Each week during the University of Kansas’ winter and spring sports seasons, the Journal-World staff will select one athlete from a KU men’s sports team and one from a women’s sports team as athletes of the week.
For the week of April 21-27, the selections are Tommy Barth and Jordynn West.
Tommy Barth, baseball
The senior outfielder, a transfer from East Tennessee State, posted his second four-hit game of the season on Saturday when he went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs to help the Jayhawks claim a series win over Utah with a 12-5 victory.
Jordynn West, track and field
The freshman from Waxahachie, Texas, recorded a mark of 11.70 meters in the triple jump that was good enough for first place at the Rock Chalk Classic as KU completed its second home meet in as many weeks.
