The Kansas football team added a cornerback to its 2027 class on Saturday morning by flipping Dylan Northcutt from Syracuse.

Northcutt announced the move on Instagram. He is the first player at his position in the class and the second overall defensive back after safety Braiden Graves of Cypress, Texas. He had visited KU and Syracuse in quick succession before initially picking the Orange back in June, but that decision lasted less than five months before he made the move to join the Jayhawks after all.

Northcutt, who attends Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, California, is the son of Dennis Northcutt, a wide receiver and return specialist who played 10 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Cleveland Browns. KU general manager Rob Ianello was the wide receivers coach and recruiting coordinator at Arizona when the elder Northcutt played there in the late 1990s.

Dylan Northcutt, a three-star prospect, has recorded 29 tackles and two interceptions with 10 passes defensed for Notre Dame this season, according to MaxPreps.

With the addition of Northcutt, KU is now up to a current total of 17 commitments in its 2027 class, which it filled out primarily through a series of pledges in early June. Linebacker JaMarquis Hudson, from Texas, had been the most recent commitment prior to Northcutt. However, Geaux247, the LSU site for 247Sports, has reported that Hudson is on campus visiting the Tigers this weekend and could be a candidate to flip.
