KU baseball drops both games of doubleheader at USC Upstate

By Staff Report     Feb 16, 2019

The Kansas baseball team suffered two losses in as many games to USC Upstate Saturday at Cleveland Harley Baseball Park in Valley Falls, S.C.

In the first game, free passes and an error by Kansas pitchers proved costly in a 4-3 walk-off loss. Junior catcher/first baseman Jaxx Groshans provided the Jayhawks with all of their offense via two home runs, including the game-tying jack in the top of the ninth inning.

Kansas faltered late, dropping a 6-4 decision to USC Upstate in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader. Junior shortstop Benjamin Sems and junior left fielder Brett Vosik paced Kansas at the plate with two-hit efforts. Freshman right fielder Casey Burnham added a base hit of his own, driving in an RBI.

KU and USC Upstate will wrap up a four-game series at noon Sunday.
