After completing its first two rounds of the Big 12 Championship on Saturday, Kansas men’s golf had one final opportunity to rise up the leaderboard Sunday.
The No. 29 Jayhawks were able to put together their best round of the tournament in round three, finishing with a 283 (+3) score. As a result, the team was able to finish ninth place overall with a three-round 860 (+20) for the tournament.
KU redshirt freshman Jeff Doty was able to finish as KU’s top competitor in his first conference postseason appearance. Doty’s eight birdies over the three rounds were tied for the most by any KU competitor for the championship. Doty’s three-round 214 (+4) score placed him in a tie for 21st place overall in the 50-player field.
Sophomore Harry Hillier finished with a three-round 215 (+5). That was good enough to place him one stroke behind Doty in the standings and tied him for 23rd overall. Junior Andy Spencer was able to finish the tournament 12-over (222) and tie for 42nd place.
Senior Charlie Hillier placed 41st with a 221, while sophomore Ben Sigel secured 36th with a 219. No. 1 Oklahoma State finished as the Big 12 Champion after posting a 13-under (827) total score for the weekend.
