Glen Mason: 1988-96

By Staff     Sep 9, 2002

Two and a half months after Glen Mason’s Kent State squad beat KU in 31-17 on the Jayhawk’s turf, he was named to the post vacated when athletic director Bob Frederick fired Bob Valesente.

When Mason left KU for Minnesota after the 1996 season it was his third head-coaching job in a year, having spent one week as the head man at Georgia before returning to coach his ninth season in Lawrence.

While he posted only a 47-54-1 record with the Jayhawks, he’s the only coach to date to take the team to two post-season bowl games, coaching the team to victory in both the ’92 and ’95 Aloha Bowls.
