Kansas women’s basketball coach Marian Washington announced the signing of three more players for the 2001-02 season.
Sereeta Jones, Brandi McGinest and Valerie Migicovsky have all signed letters of intent to play for the Jayhawks next season, joining two additional newcomers.
Jones, a 6-foot forward from Vista, Calif., averaged 25.7 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 2.1 assists a game as a senior at Rancho Buena Vista High. In addition to being all-Palomar League first team, she also was named the league’s player of the year.
McGinest, a 5-10 guard/forward from Long Beach, Calif., averaged 11 points and nine rebounds before breaking her ankle midway through her senior season at Long Beach Poly High. During her junior season, McGinest was named first-team all-Moore League.
Migicovsky is a 6-4 post player who averaged 21.2 points while playing at Algonquin (Ontario) Secondary School.
The trio will join incoming freshmen Blair Waltz (Blue Valley North/Leawood) and Chelsey Thompson (DuPont/Louisville, Ky.) as newcomers to next year’s squad.
