Reports surfaced late Friday that Kansas University offensive lineman Brad Thorson will miss an undisclosed amount of time because of a broken foot suffered Friday morning.

One source indicated that Thorson would be ready to go for the start of the 2010 season.

KU officials declined to comment.

Thorson, an academic All-Big 12 selection in 2009, started all 12 games for the Jayhawks last season, with eight starts coming at left guard and four at right tackle. The senior from Mequon, Wis., is expected to be one of the Jayhawks’ leaders this fall under new coach Turner Gill.

    Tait,

Recently ESPN.com did a story on college weight rooms, ranking the top 10. The story was limited to ESPN "Insiders", of which I do not belong. Any word if KU got any love in the list?

I hope Thorson returns to form by the opener, the O-line has to perform well this year.

8 starts at left guard, and 4 at right tackle.

Wonder why we weren't as effective running the ball?

No cohesiveness. No gel. No rhythm.

    Offensive lineman fight...

... as a single, impenetrable unit. Each man protects the man to his left. A single weak spot and the phalanx shatters.

Let's hope TG knows how the phalanx works and gets these guys in a position to stay.

    not good.

you always are fearful, when a lineman...especially offensive line...injures his foot. there is so much lateral movement for an o-lineman.....he really needs to get to 100% to be effective.

get healed up, and rehab hard.....maybe Brad can be ready by league play.

Not likely that he will be doing much during 2-a-days. That wouldn't be so bad if this weren't all new, but has to hurt a lot with a new program. The last couple OL classes have been sparse also, so it doesn't look like there will be a new "Hawkinson" revelation, but maybe.
