Here’s the latest installment in our series that examines the Jayhawks who stand to have the biggest impact for KU football this fall.
No. 23: Cassius Sendish, Senior DB
———————–
Fast enough to slide over to cornerback in a pinch, Sendish is an excellent communicator, such an important quality for a safety. His speed enables him to cover a wide range on the field and with this being his second year in the program he mind should be freed to the point he can think less and react more naturally.
Sendish plays bigger than a typical 195-pound defensive back. He started all 12 games at free safety in 2013 and his versatility gives him the ability to fill in at nickel back and he has the right combination of skills to work as a return man if the need should arise.
He likes the spotlight and plays even faster when his adrenaline starts pumping. It’s no surprise that his best game came in KU’s biggest victory during the Charlie Weis era, against West Virginia. Sendish had 12 tackles in that one.
