Kansas wing Kohl Rosario will miss Sunday’s exhibition against Duke after suffering a concussion in practice on Friday, KU coach Bill Self said.

Self revealed Rosario’s status in a pregame interview with broadcast commentator Greg Gurley that KU posted on social media shortly before the game.

“He got concussed on Friday, and got an elbow in the mouth and needed 14 stitches, and I guess some form of oral surgery,” Self said in the interview. “And then concussion on top of that. So he won’t even be in the building today, I don’t think, because of the light and the sound. He’s still walking around with sunglasses on everywhere because he was symptomatic.”

Rosario, a sophomore from Miami who is one of four returning scholarship players for the Jayhawks this season, had three rebounds in one exhibition against Pittsburg State and did not record a stat in five minutes on Wednesday against Louisville.

Self also said that former Purdue forward Trey Kaufman-Renn, newly added to the roster on Monday and still working on getting into playing shape, was “nicked up” on Friday. But Self said Kaufman-Renn practiced on Saturday, and that he wasn’t going to play him against Duke regardless.

Next up after Sunday’s exhibition for the Jayhawks is the season opener on Nov. 2 against Fordham.
