KU softball overwhelmed by No. 1 Oklahoma during sweep

The Kansas softball team was overwhelmed by top-ranked Oklahoma in a three-game sweep this weekend at the OU Softball Complex.

No. 1 Oklahoma started the series off with a 14-0 win over Kansas on Thursday, a game that only lasted 4.5 innings. Juniors Morgyn Wynne and Macy Omli were responsible for the only two hits of the day.

KU dropped a 6-2 decision in the second game on Friday, which marked the closest contest of the weekend. Sophomore Madison Hirsch hit her fourth home run of the year to serve as the biggest bright spot for the Jayhawks.

In Saturday’s finale, KU surrendered a pair of four-run innings en route to a 10-1 defeat. Redshirt junior Sydnee Ramsey hit her fifth home run of the season in the loss.

The Jayhawks fell to 17-14 on the year and 1-5 in Big 12 play. The Sooners improved to 28-0 overall and 6-0 in the Big 12.

Kansas will host Kansas City at 6 p.m. Friday to begin a three-game set at Arrocha Ballpark.
