Kansas baseball suffers series sweep to No. 5 Texas

The Kansas baseball team managed to score just four runs en route to being swept by Texas in a three-game series at Hoglund Ballpark this weekend.

Kansas dropped a 5-2 decision in the first game on Thursday. Nolan Metcalf and Brett Vosik led the team with two hits each. KU posted 10 hits in the loss in the series opener, which marked the most hits of the weekend.

In the second game on Friday, the Jayhawks suffered a 7-0 loss. Tom Lichty led the offense for Kansas, going 3-for-4 on the day.

No. 5 Texas finished off the sweep with a 11-2 victory over KU in the finale on Saturday. Vosik finished the day with a 2-for-3 performance and a walk. Tavian Josenberger added another multi-hit day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a hit by pitch.

The Jayhawks fell to 15-11 overall, including 1-5 in Big 12 action, after being swept. Texas, meanwhile, improved to 20-8 on the year and 7-2 in league action.

Kansas will host Texas Southern at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
