Goddard, Taylor lead KU baseball

Jackson Goddard allowed one hit in 7 1/3 innings, Owen Taylor hit a tiebreaking home run in the ninth inning, and Kansas defeated TCU, 4-3, in Big 12 baseball Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas.

Goddard took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, but TCU scored three runs in the eighth to tie the game at 3-all.

“Goddard was really special today,” KU coach Ritch Price said. “That was as good as he could have pitched. It was an absolute great victory for the Jayhawks who grinded the entire game.”

Stephen Villines (1-2) earned the victory in relief.

The Jayhawks improved to 9-10 overall, 1-2 in the Big 12, and TCU fell to 14-5 and 2-1.

KU will play host to Creighton at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
