Kansas’ women’s golf team was 11th among 13 teams after two rounds of the Suntrust Gator Women’s Invitational on Saturday in Gainesville, Fla.
Junior Pitsinee Winyarat and sophomore Ariadna Fonseca Diaz led the Jayhawks, both in a tie for 38th place, ending day one at 11-over par. Winyarat shot a team-best 74 in the second round.
Chomchana Phuchanbanchob and Yi-Tsen Chou were tied for 52nd (13 over), Victoria Chandra was tied for 70th (18 over) and Xinyun Yu was 74th (22 over).
“We really got off to a rough start in the morning,” KU coach Erin O’Neil said, “but played better this afternoon. We were able to shave 10 shots in the second round and can hopefully keep the momentum going into the final round.”
Florida led the tournament at 5-over 565. KU was at 48-over 608.
