Traylor, Mickelson become latest former Jayhawks to sign overseas

While recent KU standouts Perry Ellis (Charlotte), Wayne Selden (Memphis) continue to try to carve out careers in the NBA, several former Jayhawks recently signed deals with teams in Europe to play professionally overseas.

Two players from last season’s Elite Eight squad became the most recent duo to add their names to the likes of Keith Langford, Russell Robinson and other former Kansas players making a good living in Europe.

According to the web site www.eurobasket.com, Jamari Traylor recently agreed to join Australian team Oberwart for the 2016-17 season while Hunter Mickelson joined Svitavy in the Czech Republic.

The two former KU forwards join the following Jayhawks playing pro ball in other countries: Langford (UNICS Kazan in Russia); Robinson (Wilki Morskie in Poland); Julian Wright (Trabzonspor in Turkey); Josh Selby (Best Balikesir in Turkey); Darnell Jackson (Rosa Radom in Poland); Tyshawn Taylor (Maccabi K/G in Israel); Travis Releford (Niagara RL in Canada); and Elijah Johnson (Cibona in Croatia).

While the roster of Jayhawks in the NBA continues to grow each year, there remain a handful of unsigned former Jayhawks who are trying to catch on with NBA clubs but also could wind up overseas, as well.
