Kiawah Island, S.C. ? Kansas University senior Yupaporn Kawinpakorn is tied for third in the 122-golfer field with Giulia Vandenberg of Stetson and Dulcie Sverdloff of Kennesaw State at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. She trails leader Haylee Harford of Furman by four strokes.
A top-five finish would give Kawinpakorn a KU-record 14 career top-five finishes, beating out Holly Reynolds’ longstanding record.
After two rounds, Kansas is ninth of 20 teams, a stroke behind Coastal Carolina and Augusta University and a stroke ahead of Xavier and the College of Charleston. Tournament leader Furman is 23 strokes in front of KU.
Other Kansas golfers: Laine Evans (T40, 7 over), Ariadna Fonseca Diaz (T44, 8 over), Pitsinee Winyarat (T60, 10 over) and Kallie Gonzales (96th, 21 over).
The final round will be played today at the par-72, 5,972-yard Turtle Point Golf Course.
