Boca Raton, Fla. ? Kansas University opened its softball season with a pair of victories Friday in the Florida Atlantic Tournament.
Monique Wesley threw a shortened, one-hit shutout in the Jayhawks’ 8-0 victory over Long Island University-Brooklyn on Friday morning, then Shannon McGinley gave KU the lead for good with a full-count, two-out RBI single in the sixth inning of a 4-2 win over Georgia Tech.
The Jayhawks will play Arkansas at 12:30 p.m. and Florida Atlantic at 5 p.m. today.
