Duncan strikes out 14 for KU baseball

? Kansas University senior right-hander Frank Duncan struck out a career-high 14 batters as the KU baseball team won its seventh straight game, 11-1 against Mississippi Valley State, on Sunday at the Snowbird Classic.

Duncan (0-1) allowed just four hits and one run while throwing 92 pitches, 71 for strikes.

Five Jayhawks had multi-hit performances at the plate, contributing to Kansas’ 17 hits. Freshman catcher Michael Tinsley led the way for KU, going 3-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs. Senior centerfielder Tucker Tharp had two doubles, and junior shortstop Justin Protacio, junior left fielder Michael Suiter and sophomore first baseman Jacob Boylan also had a pair of hits.

The Jayhawks wrap up the Snowbird Classic at 9 a.m. today against St. Bonaventure.
