Santee, Calif. ? Kansas University’s Nate Barbee shot a 4-over-par 76 Monday and was tied for 40th after the first round of the NCAA Southwest Golf Regional.
Barbee is competing in the three-round event as an individual.
The top individual finisher not on a team that advances to the NCAA Tournament will qualify for the national championship.
Eddie Olson of UNLV leads the individual race after carding a 68. He leads Timothy Madigan of New Mexico State by one shot.
The second round is today, and the final round is slated for Saturday.
