Pat Warren, a Kansas University athletic administrator for the last eight years, resigned on Wednesday in order to pursue a master’s in business administration at the University of Chicago.
Warren had been serving as associate athletic director in charge of special projects and legal affairs. He earned a law degree from KU in 1994.
“This is a move I’ve been considering for well over a year,” Warren said. “It is difficult to leave, but I’ve made a decision I want to go a different direction with my career.”
Warren served as the primary liaison with the university general counsel’s office regarding the athletic department’s legal affairs. Warren also has overseen all new facilities projects, including the $8 million Anderson Family Strength and Conditioning Center.
Warren was the project manager for the $38.4 million in capital projects, including Memorial Stadium renovations, Allen Fieldhouse renovations, Horejsi Family Center, Anschutz Pavilion and the new videoboard at Memorial Stadium.
“Pat Warren has played a significant leadership role in helping guide the athletics department through a variety of difficult issues during his eight years on the staff,” KU athletic director Al Bohl said. “We’re going to miss Pat’s leadership.”
