STILLWATER, OKLA. ? Kansas University’s men’s golf team placed 15h at the NCAA Midwest Regionals on Saturday.
The top 10 teams qualified for the national meet, later this month at Durham, N.C.
KU carded a final-round 293 at the par-72 Karsten Creek Golf Club. The Jayhawks in earlier rounds shot 303 and 300 and finished at 896, just four strokes out of 10th place.
Senior Andy Stewart completed the tournament in third-place after carding a 72. He finished the tournament with a three-day score of 214, two strokes out of first place.
Junior Travis Hurst advanced 16 places to finish tied for 50th-place. Hurst tied a low tournament round score of 73 to finish with a total score of 224.
Senior Conrad Roberts and Chris Marshall also had tournament low rounds of 73 and 75, respectively. Roberts finished in a tie for 80th-place, and Marshall finished tied for 90th-place. Junior Casey Harbour chipped in a score of 80 and finished 131st.
Big 12 rivals Oklahoma and defending NCAA champion Oklahoma State both qualified for the NCAA tournament.
The Jayhawks completed their season with three team victories, notching wins at the Kansas Invitational, Rice Intercollegiate and Stevinson Ranch Invitational. KU placed seventh at the Big 12 Tournament.
