Tampa, Fla. ? Kansas University’s softball team ended a six-game losing streak with an 8-2 romp over Hofstra on Saturday in the Speedline Invitational.
Earlier in the tournament, Kansas had dropped four one-run games, including a 1-0 decision to Tennessee-Chattanooga and a 3-2 verdict to UMass on Friday.
Leah Tabb went 4-for-4 with three RBI, three stolen bases and a run scored to pace the win over Hofstra. Erin Garvey went 2-for-4 and scored three times.
Kansas (9-12) pounded 13 hits and freshman Kara Pierce earned the mound victory. Pierce (6-5) gave a single, an earned run and scattered five hits over seven innings.
The Jayhawks will make their home debut next weekend in the Kansas Invitational.
