An unheralded high school offensive lineman from Oklahoma, Jackson Satterwhite announced on Thursday his intentions of joining the Kansas football program.

Like most prep prospects, Satterwhite, a senior at Miami High, publicized his decision via Twitter, writing that “after an amazing conversation” with KU head coach Les Miles, offensive line coach Luke Meadows and offensive coordinator Brent Dearmon, “I am thrilled to say that I have committed to the University of Kansas.”

At this juncture, it remains to be seen whether Satterwhite, unranked in the class of 2020 by national recruiting sites, will join the Jayhawks on scholarship. But at the very least, the 6-foot-5, 285-pound O-lineman could potentially become a walk-on at KU.

According to Rivals, Satterwhite previously picked up offers from Eastern Michigan, Central Arkansas and Texas State. Per 247Sports, the Miami High prospect also had an offer from Alcorn State.

Cool, but I feel like we're regressing to competing with the Eastern Michigan's and Tulsa's of the world again.

Mangino built his program by finding "hidden gems," e.g. Aqib Talib and Todd Reesing. Let us hope Les has the same talent.

Here is a quote from a 247sports article. I can't help wonder if maybe this kid may be an under the radar kind of guy. Sounds like some other Big12 schools are beginning to notice him.

"His film is limited, though, because of an injury that kept him out his junior year. He previously told 247Sports the injury was supposed to sideline him for a year and half, but he made the recovery in just 13 months.

After playing in his senior year, Satterwhite noted his film had started to make rounds and he was starting to hear from schools, including several in the Big 12."

Before his injury Satterwhite received offers to attend O-Line camps at Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Oklahoma State and Tulsa. He was unable to attend them, so there is no telling whether he would have received offers from any or all. It's just possible that he has been overlooked because he wasn't't expected to return to play as soon as he did. In the few available films he made a number of pancake blocks, which Coach Miles is real fond of. In addition, Satterwhite played D-line and could possibly be asked to convert at KU.

Looks like my thought on KU possibly pulling the 4star LB kid scholarship for a Lineman is looking more and more like what possible happened.

No doubt he is an under the radar kid, but I saw on the rivals forum a rating of 5.5 3 star. Maybe someone just made it up but it shows in a typical rating format.

Dale - Was going to say the same thing. Common under the radar situation. IIRC, the same thing happened to Drew Brees when he landed at Purdue before leading them to the Rose Bowl. Others as well.

Kit - Great extra knowledge. Love that DL is a possibility. A big DT is even harder to find than OTs.

You all keep dreaming. I know you want to SSSOOOOO bad. I will keep watching all other 9 BIG XII teams sign 3 and 4 star recruits and kick our a$$ up and down the field every year. I, like most who want to truly admit it, thought Les would recruit better than he has. Nobody that I know thought he would get 4 and 5 star and be competing for BIG XII championships anytime soon, but I was sure expecting more. Sorry for the negative attitude, but I have ZERO expectations of a max of 3 wins again next year and half of our losses being blowouts.......or a repeat of this year.

@StevenHaag all you do is complain, complain and more complaining, if you aren’t patient enough to give Les Miles a fair chance to build this program than don’t let the door hit you on the way out. This is technically Les Miles first full recruiting class he is putting together. All I see you do on almost every football recruiting post is complain about our recruits and what another program is doing and who they are getting. Since you don’t seem happy maybe you should join the Bryce guy and go root for another School. You complain about stars, when Kansas was successful I never remembered us bringing in the 4 and 5 star recruits, it was built off blue color under the radar guys. We just finished up Les Miles 1st full season and most fans on this blog had us winning 1 game this year but we managed to win more and honestly if we had another OC starting the season 5 wins doesn’t look to bad about now. Until than enjoy the process and complain in year 3 not year 1.
