Kansas University running back Jake Sharp was selected as one of 45 preseason candidates for the 2009 Doak Walker Award, given each year to the nation's top running back.
Sharp, a senior from Salina, earned Big 12 honorable mention accolades at running back last season after rushing for 860 yards. His 88.8 rushing yards per game during the conference season also ranked third in the league.
Sharp was one of seven Big 12 running backs named to the Walker preseason list, joining Texas Tech's Baron Batch, Oklahoma's Chris Brown, Texas A&M's Cyrus Gray, Nebraska's Roy Helu Jr., Oklahoma State's Kendall Hunter and Oklahoma's DeMarco Murray.

Mark my words, Jake Sharp is going to turn alot of heads this year. Expect him to go into the books this year as one of the greatest all-time KU single season rushers ever.

The OL will be young, but it's gotta be encouraging that the freshmen are beating out upperclassmen in the process. The whole season could easily hinge on their performance.

Good point... Only thing is, that's exactly what scares me about this season. All the hype going in and we have what...like 24-25 starts on the offensive line. That is NOT a good stat going into a season.
