KU recruit Xavier Henry, right, and brother C.J. take in the Late Night festivities in this 2005 file photo. C.J. was admitted to KU on Tuesday.

Henrys won't visit UK (unless they do)

Just when you thought the Xavier and C.J. Henry saga was coming to a close, think again.

Reader poll

Do you think recruit Xavier Henry will choose Kansas?

  • Yes 36% 2021 votes
  • No 57% 3166 votes
  • Undecided 5% 281 votes

5468 total votes.

C.J. Henry, who hadn’t been heard from publicly the past couple of weeks during the Henry brothers’ recruiting saga, spoke to on Monday night.

He had the last word on a day in which there were conflicting reports from his dad, Carl, on whether basketball prospects C.J. and Xavier Henry would be making a trip to Kentucky this week in advance of their choosing either Kansas University, Kentucky or Memphis.

“I don’t think there are any plans to do that,” C.J. Henry said, asked by about a possible trip to Lexington. “We might. I don’t know. I guess we need to talk about it.”

Former KU player Carl Henry told both the Journal-World and in separate interviews Monday morning that his sons told him no trip to Kentucky would be made this week.

Two hours later, Carl told that a trip to Kentucky indeed would be on tap.

“They told me they want to get it (recruiting) over with and really don't need to make a visit to Kentucky,” Carl told the J-W. “They know the styles of play of both coaches and will make a decision without making any more visits. That's what they told me.”

Later, Carl told Zagsblog that Xavier called, and his youngest son told dad he definitely wanted to visit Kentucky.

On Monday night, C.J. Henry, who was a 6-foot-3, non-scholarship, red-shirt guard this year on Memphis’ basketball team, indicated “nothing has changed. It’s still Memphis, Kentucky, Kansas. All I know is that wherever it is, we just want to play together.”

That may be able to happen only at Memphis.

C.J., unless he wins an appeal, will have to sit out a season if he transfers to either KU or Kentucky. Xavier, a 6-6 guard from Oklahoma City’s Putnam City High School, insists he will only play one year of college basketball prior to entering the NBA Draft.

“Mainly we’re just looking for a place to play basketball and get a good education,” C.J. Henry told “I think we could probably do that at any of these schools.”

C.J. told the Web site it was a five-hour drive from his hometown of Oklahoma City to Lawrence, seven hours to Memphis and 14 hours to Kentucky.

“That won’t be the main factor, though. The main thing is being able to get the job done and get to the next level,” C.J. said, not giving the Web site a date for his decision.

Tough decision. Of course I would like the Henry's to come to KU, but at the same time, I don't care. Those all-star games are disgusting to watch. Jimmy Dykes said it best when he said ALL these athletes will have a wake-up call when they get to college. They are treated like Gods and they are only 18 years old. Whether the Henry's chose KU or UK, I wish them well, but this whole process of recruiting is out of hand!

mbaadte 11 years, 1 month ago

you'd think if they were considering Kentucky, they'd want to check out the place first right??? hmmm...we'll see on Wednesday I guess

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

Yeah I dont think they would choose a school without visiting the school first...I think KU has a good shot at the Henry brothers but no one knows for sure...I guess we will see on wednesday! cant wait for this to be over with

ICTjayhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Actually I take it the other way. They aren't going to base their decision on what the school has to offer but what the coaches are bringing to the table. And since CJ already chose Cal once, I am thinking he's going to do it again and that of course is the deciding factor for Xavier. Good luck to them in whatever they choose.

westernkshawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Hopefully, HCBS said to them "Okay, guys, we'd love to have you at KU but we've given you ample time. If you want to join us, it's time to finish the deal so either way, all of us can move on. This is not fair to either institution or the other athletes involved in this recruiting process." It's time someone said to them that the whole athletic world does NOT revolve around them, contrary to what they might think!

swunruh 11 years, 1 month ago

Good work coach Self. You may have earned your first victory over Calipari's Wildcats.

ChicagoJHawk 11 years, 1 month ago

So the Henry brothers "should be ready to announce their college choice this week, likely Wednesday." So what does that mean, on Wednesday they're going to announce that they're postponing their announcement for another couple months??

If you're not going to Kentucky then that means you're coming to KU right? Just announce it now and be over with it! Why wait 'til Wednesday?

They'll be playing with the best center & best point guard in the country, the coach of the year (who just won a national championship), and your parents both played here. It's not that hard of a decision! Especially if they're only staying for one year.

Hawktacular 11 years, 1 month ago

I have heard a number of times that X prefers Calisleezi's style of play. I hope Carl's comment isn't a hint.

iluvdbskxjayhawks 11 years, 1 month ago

Well, if they like Coach Cal that much then they wouldn't need to visit the campus, would they? CJ just wants to play for Coach Cal. Get this over and done with boys! I'm so tired of this recruiting drama.

TexasHawk44 11 years, 1 month ago

This is good news! Hopefully they choose KU but even if they don't, it is good news to get the decision over with so that things can move forward. Since there is no visit to UK, maybe that means we are the favorite. The way this thing has gone, who knows?

Best to X whichever way he goes. If you are a Jayhawk, I will cheer loudly for you. If you end up as a Wildcat, I will cheer loudly against you! That is the fun about sports. But either way, I truly wish you are happy with what you decide.

vmwskywalk 11 years, 1 month ago

It will be nice to get this over with once and for all.

WisconsinJayhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Yup, this is good news either way. Either we get X on Wednesday, or Thursday Lance can fax in his LOI.

Brett Glover 11 years, 1 month ago

He's probably going to pick kentucky, why else would he chose not to visit there, this whole thing was a waste of time, now we're not even going to get stephenson because we threw him under the bus.

RonBurgandy 11 years, 1 month ago

I don't really see this as good news. I don't see it as bad news either, but I will be surprised it the Henry brothers choose KU. I think they had the chance to do that before and they chose Memphis. Now they could choose Kentucky and still have the same group together there and a more prestigious school than Memphis.

Don't get me wrong, I hope more than anything they chose KU, but I am not holding my breath about it. I don't really think they needed the trip to Kentucky to realize what they were getting with Calipari.

irish2255 11 years, 1 month ago

I can't decide if no visit to UK is good or bad. Either they don't want to waste their time taking a visit to a school they won't attend (Good for KU), or they are basing it solely on coaching style which so far has meant Cal (Bad for KU). Either way I'm ready to get this soap opera over.

jspawk 11 years, 1 month ago

YES! Finally.....this recruiting madness is coming to a close. I hope we can land X and CJ, but Sir Lance A lot will do just fine sporting the crimson and blue.

Regardless - Rock Chalk National Championship 2010!!!

Andy Hess 11 years, 1 month ago

The sooner the better. Let's get this over and done with.

jspawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Don't worry everyone.....I'm sure our buddy Carl will spill the beans before Wednesday. He seems to be speaking more than X or CJ and that's okay because after all he is a Jayhawk.

Seth Nesmith 11 years, 1 month ago

i agree skywalk! it will be nice to get this over with. high school recruiting has gotten way out of hand.

TexasHawk44 11 years, 1 month ago

I just think it is good news that it will be over with, one way or another.

mizzousucks89: man, the glass might be half full, dude. negative energy only brings negativity... this news could mean that they choose UK or that they don't need a visit because they decided on KU. Only the Henry family knows (and maybe Cal and Bill). Either way it falls, hopefully we will end up with a wing. I don't think we threw Lance under the bus...let's just let this novella play out... I predict a happy ending for KU...but then again, I am a glass is half full guy....

mjlindsm 11 years, 1 month ago

Am I the only one who is really captivated and excited by all this recruiting stuff and doesn't want it to end?

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

Honestly who knows where they will go? We will have to wait because all we can do is can take so many different angles on the situation...I personally think we have a good shot still but if we dont get X then we will still have a great shot at landing Lance...I hear that Maryland is off Lance's list and his dad wants him out of NY so it looks like KU is where he wants to be even still after we have basically ignored him the past couple of weeks...HCBS is a smart guy and I dont think he will miss out on both these great players

TaTownHawkFanBase 11 years, 1 month ago

I have a question. Did Lance make a personal decision to wait on what X did? Or, did HCBS talk with him and told him to wait and see what played out? It seems to me that all Lance had to do was come out and commit to KU.

100 11 years, 1 month ago

It's amazing reading a couple of these comments....

Here we are about to land one of the best players in Jayhawk history (and his brother) & we have posers from different Universities (Duke? UNC?) on the site trying to bring down this great news.

A clue for those who don't know about recruiting:

Until you know the players on the team, your housing, your daily walk, what the campus looks like (and by the way UK's campus is about as ugly, dinky and flat as they come). It's like a high school campus -- square ugly buildings, the whole lot.

The point is -- this is a really good sign both CJ & X want to win a championship next year.

Can't wait to see the pregame videos at Wilt Chamberlain Fieldhouse next year!

(should features couple nice Carl Henry vintage pull up Jumpers, perhaps that beaut against KState)

Rock Chalk Jayhawk, X & CJ!

SoCalAlum 11 years, 1 month ago

We have to figure that Coach Self hasn't disrespected Lance through this process - that he offered to both Lance and X and that Lance is waiting on X.

NebraskaJayhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Oh the drama....

You know what the stupid thing about all of this is... For us to expect a freshman to come in and be the piece of the puzzle to help us win that coveted title next year is a farce. Seriously, he's super athletic and all, but he will still be a freshman no matter how good he is. I'm not saying he can't fullfill that needed role, but there's a chance X will flop wherever he goes.

What we need next year is for our bigs to develop and be the force we were inside two years ago. We need the Morris twins to be twice as good as they were this year and for Cole to continue to improve his game. If that happens, things will take care of themselves because we are going to get a lot of open looks outside. And we do have guys that can hit shots from outside, but they just aren't athletic enough to create their own (besides Collins and Taylor).

jayhawkinATL 11 years, 1 month ago

Um, yeah...didn't Julian Wright commit to KU without a campus visit???

Andrew Moore 11 years, 1 month ago

Many of you guys say that CJ "chose Cal before" but if you remember, he also chose Sefl before. He didn't come because of a big-money baseball gig with the NY Yankees. Then he returns to basketball a few years later, do you think he was offered again? Maybe it wasn't a Self or Cal choice. We can't really say.

This article leads me to believe that Kansas is most likely their home. I have a feeling that the more and more Carl Henry gets involved with the media, the more and more pressure he puts on his children to choose Kansas. I don't know if thats intentional but I think its working! If you saw X's interview from, the reporter reminded X of how much he didn't follow kentucky and how much he loved Kansas - his face just lit up when he talked about Allen Fieldhouse and he even brought up the transfers.

At this point I would be surprised if they chose Kentucky.

Kenny George 11 years, 1 month ago

C.J.- "X, looks like that whole Coach Cal thing blew up in our face! Too bad our father is a good friend of Cal since dad played at KU when Cal was an assistant."

X- "You know C.J., Cal did throw us under the bus a little but this would have never happened if you had walked-on at KU like you should have. I mean WTF were you thinking. Now if we are going to play together next year, it will have to be at Memphis and I ain't doin' that gig with Cal gone. Are you sure you don't want to just stay at Memphis and I can go somewhere else?"

C.J.- "Bro. I got it all under control. We can still play for Cal but it will be at Kentucky instead and I will take one for the team and sit out another year so we can play together your sophomore year."

X- "Dude, I'm a OAD and if I am going to only play for one year, I want to hang a banner somewhere and it ain't at Memphis or Kentucky next year. If you are going to sit out, sit at KU and watch me school these punks next year and we can hang a banner together!"

C.J.- "X, you are always right. I should have been born with your brains!"

ohjayhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

"For us to expect a freshman to come in and be the piece of the puzzle to help us win that coveted title next year is a farce."

Oh how soon some forget the bitter heartbreak that was 2003...

TexasHawk44 11 years, 1 month ago

NebraskaJayhawk: X is not going to be a "flop" wherever he goes. Come one, not a cool post. That doesn't mean he is going to be player of the year but "flop" is incredibly unlikely unless he gets injured.

The one thing X brings is scoring ability, especially from long range. I would not saying adding a very talented freshman who can fill it up from outside being a strong addition to our already loaded team "a farce". Nobody is brain is saying that Henry (or Lance for that matter) is going come in and be the super star of the team, but most with a brain are saying that a talented wing player is one key ingredient that will make KU even stronger going into next season.

Our returning outside shooters are very one dimensional. We will get looks from the outside. Having a shooter like Henry or a scorer like Lance would make a positive impact on our offense. Anyone who thinks differently hasn't paid attention to our team. Not saying that we cannot win it all without a wing recruit, but I am saying it will be easier with one. That is pretty obvious to anyone who watches KU and college bball.

KEITHMILES05 11 years, 1 month ago

Carl has predicted numerous times the past 2-3 weeks this would all be over. However, to date it hasn't come to fruition. Todays media event makes it sounds like it will end this week. However, look at past history and odds are it may not happen as was said.

KUFan90 11 years, 1 month ago

jayhawkinatl nailed it. Just because they aren't visiting UK doesn't mean they won't pick it. Julian is the best example of that.

And no more of this "we have ignored Lance the last few weeks". If Self wants him, he has been in contact and is still showing him the love. How do you know Self is ignoring him? The articles and comments have been X focused, but don't equate media and fan speculation/message boards/posted comments to the level of interest our coach is giving Lance right now. That's all that really matters.

Dick Murdock 11 years, 1 month ago

I don't think they care about what the school is like considering X will only be there one year anyway.

100 11 years, 1 month ago

You're right about Julian Wright.

These cases are very rare. Could you imagine being a top tier athlete and not even knowing who is on your team? Not knowing where you'll sleep?

X has already said he likes KU a bunch (and more importantly the players).

It's all about chemistry, relatonships. He has a great relationship with Self.

A great one with Cal. However...

X knows (has met), like what -- 2 UK players?

He knows the entire, every single KU player and likes Lawrence a lot too what he said in an interview).

He also said there's no better place he's played in the world than Allen Fieldhouse.

Keep the faith Jayhawk nation.

Let's welcome these Jayhawk legacies with class!

Lin Rahardja 11 years, 1 month ago

5a5quatch 11 years, 1 month ago

I guess this means that CJ is transferring out of Memphis regardless of what he hears from the NCAA regarding sitting out a year? If that is still unresolved, I would hope X makes an independent decision. I get the feeling it's CJ that's enamored with Calipari, or the playing time he thinks he can get from Calipari.

Chris Shaw 11 years, 1 month ago

What are the chances the Henry's fool everyone and they both sign with UCLA? LOL! I am kidding!

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

i would just like to say how proud i am of us as poster's. that is about 40 comments and no one has asked about how the scholarships will work out re: CJ and the yankees. though the last two weeks have been tiring and we have all been losing sleep, yet, we are progressing as a people!! kudos to us all.

by the way, was anyone else unimpressed with john wall in the jordan game? i haven't seen much of him so i just assume he was trying too hard... but man he looked too fast for himself let alone the defense.

jayhwkr77 11 years, 1 month ago

Everybody needs to be patient with this whole thing. I too am very tired of this recruiting saga, and am ready for it to end, but we need to think about next March though. I dont care if it takes until August to get either of these guys, it will be worth the wait when the tournament comes around trust me. Both of them would fit perfectly into the lineup next year and improve the championship chances significantly.

If we get him great, if not oh well, but everyone needs to be patient.

brooksmd 11 years, 1 month ago

jayhawkinatl, I agree with you. X wants to play with CJ. X is a OAD. CJ probably won't be able to play if he transfers, so Memphis is the winner and X is the loser. Lance welcome to Lawrence.

Jonathan Allison 11 years, 1 month ago

I really liked Self's story about Julian's verbal commitment. Self was doing the in home visit and popped in the highlight video. At the end of the conversation Self was trying to get Julian to schedule a campus visit and when Julian said "I'm coming" Self thought he meant for the visit. But Julian was saying, "No, I'm going to play at Kansas."

Good story about someone who seemed to understand the worth of being at a tradition rich school and playing in a place like Allen Fieldhouse. Too bad he didn't stick around one more year to pick up his diploma and a national championship. What disappointed me was that he was on pace to graduate after his junior year, so he had kept saying that he was going to stay one more year and graduate.

JayJayPG 11 years, 1 month ago

Does anyone else wonder why X even decided to take another look at KU once Calipari left and he was released from his LOI?

It seems to me that if he was originally sold on the idea of playing for Cal and/or with his brother, his choices would be obvious (Memphis or UK). The fact that KU is even in the picture again makes me think that X truely wants to be here. Since they have written off Memphis (it seems), I'm thinking CJ is probably trying to sway him towards UK again (hence the delay in this decision).

KEITHMILES05 11 years, 1 month ago

Ryan Sullivan 11 years, 1 month ago

I'm sure that Self knows what he's doing, but man, I hope we don't end up empty handed. I say give the Henry's until 5pm on Wednesday, and if they can't commit, we pray that Lance Stephenson still wants to play for KU. Can you imagine what he's thinking right now? He is a stud and he's waiting to see what another kid does before his top choice school will let him commit. I've seen enough film on these guys, and I like Lance's game better. He's much more aggressive, a slasher, whereas Henry sits on the 3 point line a bit too much for a guy at 6'6".

By the way, didn't Julien Wright commit to KU without visiting the campus?

Chicago_JHawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Carl Henry needs to learn how to say "No comment." He has no idea what's going on, but he keeps talking about it.

master16 11 years, 1 month ago

Too quick to jump to conclusions... either their talk with Cal went very well so they are sold on UK without even visiting, or their talk with HCBS went very well so they are no longer considering visiting UK.

KEITHMILES05 11 years, 1 month ago

Chicago_JHawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Why do people post without reading the earlier posts?

vegas_hawk 11 years, 1 month ago

The Henry Brothers won't come to KU, so we should all just get over it already! It's interesting that Calipari's other recruits didn't take this long to decide to follow him to Kentucky. They should just stay at Memphis.

keith horinek 11 years, 1 month ago

If I had to guess, I would say they are going to UK. They have never shown the desire to commit to a school, but rather to a coach and they seem to prefer Coach C over Coach Self. Beats me why though. Also Lance is now looking at Maryland and Wall is looking at going pro now instead of waiting one more year. We don't need all this drama, and I don't like that these kids hold coaches and schools hostage. Let them go, our new recruits for next year are doing well and are a good fit for Coach self's program. I won't be disappointed if we don't get anybody else.

jayhawkinATL 11 years, 1 month ago

I agree, oljhwk..getting any of these "leftovers" would be icing on the cake IMO.

BCRavenJHawkfan 11 years, 1 month ago

Judging from that 2005 file photo it would appear Xavier-the-Savior (I know his name is not pronounced like one would expect, I am making a point) is not that interested in KU. The guy looks like he is putting in his hour in World Civilization class.

6hawks 11 years, 1 month ago

Read between the lines. "X" is committed to Cal, it's UK NOT KU.

100 11 years, 1 month ago

Not good news (but isn't this what we thought was happening originally?)

The good news is they'll see UK's campus & see that they can only meet a few "pawsitively" UK players.

Still comes down to relationships, playing style & championships.

UK will average 65 ppg next year, dribbling, shooting, occasionally kicking out)

This team will get destroyed in the SEC without a bench and a bunch of 18/19 year olds running the show..

KU will average 90 (dribble driving at times!!!, kicking out, passing, cutting, at times even running an offense!!!)

Thank goodness they're visiting UK, the juco of all college campuses, and not Chapel Hill or UCLA -- comparable campuses to KU. A huge factor still is: does X want a championship?

rawkhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Patience, folks. We'll know relatively soon whether it's X or Lance or none of the above. I still think that KU has a good shot at X or Lance...they both know that playing for KU would mean much press, good times, and a run at the title.

jayhawkboogeyman 11 years, 1 month ago

So as it turns out, they are visiting Kentucky this weekend, as was reported all along. This family needs to learn to keep their damn mouths shut; Carl says he is tired of the attention in another blog interview, but he is obviously loving it or he would just say "no comment" instead of changing his story every hour and stealing a few headlines.
Carl claims Xavier wants to play for KU but CJ loves Calipari. Xavier says it is all about playing with his brother. CJ doesn't say much of anything, but apparently no one in the family realizes that the NCAA is not going to clear CJ to play or not play at another school next season until after he, in fact, enrolls at another school. Xavier keeps saying his decision is based on playing with CJ, in which case the only sure bet is to stay with Memphis. Meanwhile, Stephenson is being courted by other schools. This needs resolved soon. I, like most of you, seriously doubt we can win a title without a scoring 3, whom we probably do not yet have. So obtaining X or Lance is our key to elevating from in-the-mix to clear-cut-favorite next season.

Ryan Sullivan 11 years, 1 month ago

"Here we are about to land one of the best players in Jayhawk history"

Wow. Just wow.

He hasn't taken a single shot for KU.

We're already talking about him doing for us what Carmelo Anthony did for Syracuse.

If there's a guy out there that could have that effect its Lance Stephenson. I take it as a huge compliment to KU and to Coach Self that Stephenson is waiting on us and hasn't just pick another school already.

I'll be happy with eirther guy, but I would prefer Lance. He seems much more aggressive and competitive.

Either way, Carl Henry needs to either not answer the phone or simply say "no comment."

How about Sherron and Cole coming back? How about all those freshman coming back as sophomores? How about Thomas Robinson and Elijah Johnson? Hmm, we may still be a national championship contender without Henry, or Lance even.

God Dammit, when is Harrison Barnes going to hurry up and commit?

KUSmurf 11 years, 1 month ago

We are definitely a national championship contender without either of these guys, but with either one of them on our team our chances skyrocket (hopefully).

TheShot122293 11 years, 1 month ago

I wonder what Johnson and Robinson - Jayhawks - think of all of this? I wonder which of the two they would rather play with. They would obviously never say, but surely they have an opinion. I'm assuming that all, or nearly all, of these top recruits know each other somewhat, if not very well due to all of the AAU, Invitationals, etc. I wonder what Sherron, Cole, and the rest of next year's championship team thinks about these two guys.

Joel Hood 11 years, 1 month ago

Folks – everyone take a deep breath. Nothing has changed from last week. Carl and the LJW reported what was said this weekend. Cal likely got wind and was able to convince them to make the visit. If Cal lands them, it would be the recruiting coup of the decade. Just compare KU & UK for 2009-10…

No one knows what to expect at Kentucky next year. Sure, lots of young, raw talent – but no players on the team know Cal’s system yet. The upper classmen won’t be able to help the freshmen much – in fact, they might even resent the new kids that Cal brings in. Next year at Kentucky will be little more than an ugly birthing process.

KU on the other hand is the picture of clarity. You get to play with a great young team that should win the conference (again) and go to the Final Four. The head coach is the national COY and sends guys to the NBA regularly. The campus, AFH, and student fans are second to none. And, you instantly become a beloved legacy player.

Does playing for Cal really look that much better on your NBA resume than playing for Bill Self? If so, someone please tell me why. There are just too many signs that KU is the right place for X & CJ and Kentucky is the wrong place for them next year. Of course I’m the biggest homer of them all and I could be wrong.

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

here's to being thankful that self isn't giving up on these guys like a lot of you seem to be. i highly doubt self would get on a plane to nyc and visit with the henry's if he thought they weren't worth it.

by the way, something that is getting lost in all of this is the fact that cal is still recruiting guys who he recruited to memphis. it seems as though there is an unspoken ethic among coaches... that when they leave a school (normally leaving the program out to dry), they encourage the recruits to stick with that school. it would seem they do this as to try and mend some of the hurt they impose by leaving for greener pasture's. cal seems to not give a rip and is pursuing all his prior recruits. i don't know how i would feel about that if i were a kentucky fan? if he did it at memphis... who knows what happens when he bails from the bluegrass.... sure he said kentucky was his dream job, but he also said (at his kentucky press conference) that he told his players (current and incoming) to stay at memphis. we have seen how hard he tried to convince demarcus cousins to stay with memphis.

most other coaches, when they leave, tell the current players and prospective players that they cannot follow and then they cease their pursuit. roy did this when he left ku, self when he left illinois.... heck, even kelvin samsung.... i mean samson told scottie reynolds and damion james to stay with ou and that they couldn't follow him to iu. we would all agree samson had their phone numbers : )

point being, it is proper to not stick it to the school you are leaving by emptying their roster for the glory of your new home. it is not wrong by any means, but it just seems so smug to me. if cal is thankful for the opportunity that memphis gave him, he sure has a shotty way of showing it! get ready kentucky, don't think you are exempt from his shallow ways...

I don't know why no one else has said this yet but Carl should just learn to say "no comment."...j/k

I don't see why the campus or the school plays into consideration for an OAD. It's all coach and players. Heck, an OAD only has to make grades for one semester, a sad fact but a fact regardless.

can anyone please support (with factual evidence) that KU is making lance stephenson wait? that keeps getting thrown around... yet for all we know, lance is waiting at his own behest. does anyone really know? if so, please cite how you know either case to be true.

p.s. please stop mistaking lance's emotion for competitiveness/aggression and slighting X because he has a more stoic demeanor. kirk hinrich may have been the most competitive/aggressive jayhawk ever and he was stoic beyond belief.

lee3022 11 years, 1 month ago

My glass is more than half full. KU has a terrific team next year as is and will be a legitimate contender and favorite for another NCAA championship. Adding any of these three players makes us deeper and more talented but they are not essential.

From The Henry's perspective the commitment to one year and wanting to play together limits their choice to Memphis or NCAA waiver. Perhaps the NCAA has promised a decision on the waiver this week. That may be the decider. Brandon Rush was also sure he was a one-year player. Turns out, he found much improvement by staying the second year. The third year for Brandon was the ACL injury but he regained his form and left with a championship ring and a lottery draft spot. No harm there. Xavier and CJ have far more information than me and will make the best decision for themselves. My bet is they play two years together at KU and take one or even two championships with them into the NBA. Not many players have ever done that.

Carmelo Anthony is still given great respect for taking Syracuse to the championship his freshman year. It is part of his legacy. So another factor may be who gives them the best chance at a championship. Since KU has a core that has played together and won, they have the chemistry and talent to go all the way. Kentucky will have great young talent coming in, as does KU but like KU last year, will have to learn a new system and to mesh and play smart together next year. A commitment there would also likely be a two-year commitment if they want to compete for a championship. Memphis likewise has to adjust to a new coach and a new system and they do not have the talent level already in place. That is my limited perspective.

I am congratulating the Henrys in advance for creating for themselves (with much hard work) a great opportunity and for a great decision, however it comes down. Learn and grows and enjoy your experience. You should remember it for the rest of your lives.

when are we going to learn to stop giving this guy any credibility? carl henry will talk to anyone who will print him.

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

why the backlash at carl? he is just trying to answer the questions as best he can. i seriously doubt he is calling zagsblog or gary saying, "hey guess what? no visit" or "hey it looks like a visit after all, my bad". these entities are calling carl. now most of you are right, he could just say no comment. however, based off his answers, it appears as though he is getting tired of the process as well and just trying to answer the questions.

rockchalkchick 11 years, 1 month ago

I would love it if X, CJ, and Lance would just make a decision already! The endless speculation and overanalysis, as well as Carl Henry's constant back-and-forth comments, are driving me crazy! I'm sure I'm not alone here.

Joel Hood 11 years, 1 month ago

I’ve heard Carl on the Lawrence radio sports talk several times. He is not seeking out this attention. He typically qualifies every statement he makes, for example, “…as it stands now,” or “the last time we spoke,” or “that could all change if…”

When Carl has discussed X & CJ, he has always been a straight shooter, but what he says is rarely put into the exact context in which it was said. The translation from spoken conversation to LJW print is the perfect fuel for message board fire. IMO, this is not Carl’s fault.

Jim Jackson 11 years, 1 month ago

I heard that Bill told X that if he visited UK he would pull the scholarship offer. Any truth to this? I want Lance, I really don't know why Bill is going after these clowns after they already turned us down for Memphis. I just hope Lance isn't agitated enough to pick St John's.

Aligned 11 years, 1 month ago

Actually, I won't believe they're anywhere until I see them suited up and on the court!

Dillon Davis 11 years, 1 month ago

Everyone is saying on the shiver and zagsblog and phognet that Self said if the Henrys visit UK he is pulling their scholarship offer. So at least Self is finallly puting an end to this. He's saying X you may be big, but you're not bigger than KU.

jtm 11 years, 1 month ago

Just how many scholarships does Cal have to offer at Kentucky? Seems he's got 3 signees already plus courting X and Wall.

jspawk 11 years, 1 month ago

I'm done with the Henry drama.......maybe they want us to pi$$ Lance off so he goes somewhere else. Then they sign with Kentucky and we lose out on "Born Ready" with Calipari thinking that will hamper our chances of a national championship.

I know we will be fine regardless, but come on already this is too much.

I hope we beat Calipari every chance we get. I now have a new favorite team (Coach) to hate.

Maybe we should take a collection for a case of "Dapper Dan" so he can grease is crooked little head with?

Jeff Hargate 11 years, 1 month ago

The Henry's will fit right in at UK with Calipari's ego. They (X and Lance) have essentially taken over the college basketball world after the championship game. Do we really want a OAD to spoil the chemistry this team already has? How many shots/game would X or Lance even get with Cole and Sherron taking atleast 40% of them? The last thing we need is a over-inflated ego jacking 25 shots/game to get 12 points. These guys (class) are not even close to being as good as Carmello or LeBron were at this age. I hope the story about Self is player is bigger than any program.

Jaminrawk 11 years, 1 month ago

I just hope next week, this story is closed one way or another. This has gotten ridiculous.

KEITHMILES05 11 years, 1 month ago

Xavier Henry THINKS he is one and done. Very, very, very, very, very few athletes are. They are hyped as being the next savior. They are told all the things they want to hear to get the big head. However, when they get to college they find out they aren' t squat. They get beat down, their egos hurt, and then they run home to momma and daddy and cry. They aren't men. I'd be shocked as hell if this kid was a one and doner.

jncarlsbad 11 years, 1 month ago

I wonder if Self thinks recruiting a Blue Chip player like Henry is harder than winning the Big 12. They've been watching Xavier Henry for a very long time, probalby over 2 years. The toying back and forth must really put a toll on the our coach while trying to juggle Stephenson as well. This has got to be very tiring for Self. How do you get started on how the team is going to be setup on the floor if your waiting on a player still. Coaching is one thing but negotiating a player to come to your school, well that's a whole different story. I'm sure Self wants this drama to end just as much as we all do.

Adam James 11 years, 1 month ago

Ok- I have read these posts for days now and I'm a bit frustrated. From a coaches perspective we don't need any of these guys if they don't want to come to KU.We don't need any of these guys to win a Championship/ Big 12 title and on. We have a top 5 PG in Elijah and blue collar big man in Robinson coming in that will immediately make an impact. We also have a handful (Morris twins, Taylor, Releford, Morningstar, etc.) that will be much improved with a year under their belt to contribute. There is no doubt in my mind that these guys are going to be as good or better than anyone we bring in right now (including X and Stephenson), especially with their experience. Let's win it without any of these other smucks and throw it in their face when they all commit to UK, St. John's, NC, Duke or wherever they want to go. We want guys like Elijah that bleed Crimson and Blue and wear and wave a KU t-shirt around at their HS games. We want guys like Cole/Brady/Tyrel who would give their life to represent the KU tradition. This is what a team is all about and this is what will win us a championship. Go somewhere else if you can't commit to the best basketball school in the country.

KY_Cats1 11 years, 1 month ago

The Henrys will be Cats in less than a week. Book it! Sorry all you wannabes out there, but the GREATEST program in college basketball history is back. Bringing the Henrys to the Bluegrass is just the start.

What is not to love? 7 NCAA tournament championships, the most wins all-time, the best winning percentage all-time, the best coach in the game today, the greatest arena in college basketball, and the most knowledgeable and passionate fans on the planet. It is a no-brainer. The Henrys were sold 5 minutes after Coach Cal called them from the Commonwealth.

Once we got rid of that Big 12 reject coach and brought in Coach Cal – also the best recruiter in the nation by the way – we are now a lock for at least 3 more NCAA championships in the next 5 years. That’s right, count them up…number 8, number 9, and number 10! Cha-ching!

Good luck in the coming years to the rest of you wannabe programs. You will need it as the Blue Mist returns to its rightful place on top of the college hoops world. I wish you all the best as you battle for the second rung on the ladder below us.

Go Big Blue!!!

KY - You're a troll. If not for Phog Allen and James Naismith, Adolph Rupp would have been pulling a plow after college and UK would be nothing.

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

thanks for the comic relief. kentucky was a very respectable tradition rich program... then they hired john calipari. you can have all the recruits you want because as long as they go to a program in which they are not coached, you will continue to cheer in the NIT. you seem to understand this already as you call cal the best recruiter (as you know he is a worthless bench coach).

by the way, kansas built your precious arena. you're welcome.

make no mistake about it, kentucky will continue to make headlines for the years to come. the same way notre dame does on the gridiron. as a storied tradition that is so consumed with itself that it can never reclaim the glory it loves to hold so tightly to. the only thing you have left now is ashely judd looking good on the sidelines!

JayJayPG 11 years, 1 month ago

Having had the recent displeasure of hearing Calipari in an interview recently (I usually change the channel), it's pretty easy to see why he is such a great recruiter. The guy is the king of schmooze and he seems to have a way with words that he can make you buy into just about anything he says and can spin anything negative into a positive. He also socially networks the hell out of himself to get his name out there for future top recruits. I can only imagine what crap he fed X over the weekend...

judy_jayhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

KY Jelly Cat 1 - You are delusional. You have the equivalent of Slick Willie running your program. He is trying to take the recruits that Memphis paid him to recruit and bring them to Kenluckless. He screwed Memphis and do NOT think for one minute he would not screw you in a heart beat. The Henry's may come to UK next year, however, you WILL NOT compete for the NCAA Championship next year!!!! Can you say Point Guard? Do you have one???? I don't think John Wall will be coming your way...he wants to stay close to home because of his mother. Ask Texas what the result is when you have some outstanding players and NO point guard....disaster......NIT, NIT, NIT...if you are lucky!

jayhawkinATL 11 years, 1 month ago coach in the game??? That's rich. He built is resume in the formidable Conference USA!!! Two years in a row, Big 12 schools took him out!!!

We'll see how you feel after Coach Cal gets UK into trouble with the APR rating with all of his "one-and-dones."

jspawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Let's all just laugh at KY_Cat1 because we all know that Calipari injected his veins with a week Conference USA schedule to boost his resume. Calipari couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Any coach that says that free throws don't mean anything and then loses because of free throws obviously doesn't know how to coach.

Insert trojan horse named Calipari to keep that all time winning percentage dropping while our tradition rich program remains right on their heels. At this rate we should be passing Kentucky within the next two years as the most winning team besides UNC.

Prediction, Calipari schedules Conference USA games as his pre-conference schedule and then stumbles through his regular conference schedule.

rcaltrider 11 years, 1 month ago

Hey inbred, first of all your arena sucks. It has no character and is just a bland cookie cutter arena. Secondly, your arena is named after Adolph Rupp. Care to venture a guess as to where Mr. Rupp played and learned his basketball? (Basketball for Dummies hint: It was as a Jayhawk!) And you honestly think you have the best basketball coach in America? How many championships has he won? He's been to one final four (and don't come at me with the UMass one that was vacated because of violations, it doesn't count!) And do you think there may be a reason why no other big-time program has gone after him? Either they didn't think he was the real deal (not likely) or they wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole because he is a major violation/probation waiting to happen. Kentucky was desperate and needed to make a big splash so they are taking a huge risk with this scumbag and it will end up blowing up in their face.

Have fun the next few years winning 30 games a year and then flopping in March until it all comes crashing down and you are one step away from the death penalty (and the only thing that will save your program from that is the Kentucky name.)

jspawk 11 years, 1 month ago

rcaltrider - I think what you meant to say was have fun winning 20 games a year. Because now Calipari will actually have to coach and everyone knows that he doesn't know how to.

Calipari "Okay guy spread out, now cut to the basket"

Ohhhhhh so tough being coach Calipari.......I can't wait to see them flop!

100 11 years, 1 month ago

This makes my day that you've finally shed your disguise. What do you have five email accounts so you can pretend to be a Jayhawk on this site?

For all the great things UK basketball is, perhaps we should help you clarify:

  1. UK is only up on UNC by five games or so on the all time win list. It's why you tried to steal some wins in the NIT this year. It's also shy you fired Gillespie. It's also why you'll fire Calipari after the NCAA finishes their investigation. KU, by the way, is only 15 or so games behind you guys on the all time list.
  2. You have had exactly zero coaches from the state of Kentucky. The only one remotely tied to your program was Joe B Hall, a legitimately good coach, and great person. He's also one of the rare coaches who didn't put your program on severe probation.
  3. You have had four (4) head coaches who were at the University of Kansas first, or were born in Kansas. 1. Alpha Brumage 2. Adolph Rupp (your best coach ever) 3. Eddie Sutton (born in KS, rooted for Phog Allen KU teams growing up) 4. John Calipari (assistant to Larry Brown at Kansas in mid 80's)
  4. Adolph Rupp -- a Jayhawk with two national titles under his belt at Kansas (as a player) before he ever took over the mediocre UK team.
  5. Rupp Arena -- "your" arena is named after a Jayhawk, Adolph Rupp, who learned his college ball from a Jayhawk at Kansas, Phog Allen, who was recruited by the inventor of basketball to be a Jayhawk -- James Naismith -- who was himself a Jayhawk for more than half of his life.
  6. "Your" arena is not yours. It's built in the middle of Lexington -- it's the city's property. There is a UK sticker on the floor and the banners, but it is not by any means the property of your University. It's like us using the Kemper Arena and placing a Jayhawk in the middle and calling it KU's gym, when icecapades and Sessme Street live is there more than our basketball team. "Your" arena is two miles (two miles) off of campus.
  7. Perhaps you'll get X -- just make sure he doesn't see your campus. What an eye sore! (I seriously have seen high schools with better campuses).
  8. Your 1951 NCAA championship? The NCAA has not closed the case on your players shaving points -- if I were you I'd be careful about counting championships online.

KUcrazy 11 years, 1 month ago

I think C.J sitting out another year is a big deal, so for that reason it will be Memphis.I think when they interview X they keep asking about Kansas-Kentucky and not about Memphis but he still keeps putting them on his list....I hope Im wrong but dont think so

Adam James 11 years, 1 month ago

Gentlemen....have some confidence with what we have and not waste your time talking trash and trying to defend KU. A class program like Kansas with quality players and top notch coaching does not need to be defended. They will speak for themselves when the 09-10 season begins next year.

Jack Wilson 11 years, 1 month ago

And the top reason to choose Kentucky over Kansas ...... you think it is the wrong strategy to foul with under 10 seconds, up by 3.

Chicago_JHawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Unfortunately, to potential recruits, Derrick Rose's success this season is an example of Cal preparing guys for the next level. Whether he actually had anything to do with it or it was Rose's ability alone, guys are going to see that Cal's program produced the (most likely) NBA Rookie of the Year.

Adam James 11 years, 1 month ago

Derek Rose is good, but what happen to all the other players at Memphis?????

TexasHawk44 11 years, 1 month ago

I think you are right about Rose, Chicago-JHawk. Although, I don't think Cal has anything to do with Rose -- unless he is Rose's daddy. I think it all had to do with genetics and nothing to do with Cal. I don't get it if Henry picks Cal because of getting him prepared for being an OAD. X is already an OAD wherever he goes. In fact, how many OAD's is Cal allegedly signing next year?

Hard to believe he would rob his former team in Memphis. But that is how Cal is. He straight out of the Mob with his mentality. I predict that Kentucky is going to regret hiring him within the first five years. He may end up with a championship down the road, but I also believe he will get caught with his slimy hand in the tip jar as well -- UK will go under probation with Cal. He is just that kind of guy. The anti-Pitino. The anti-Roy. The anti-Self. Makes my skin crawl thinking about it....

I really think that if both of these guys Xavier and CJ wanted to be at KU they would have chosen to come here at their first opportunity. I think that it is obvious that they both want to play under Coach Cal. It is unfair to our current players and incoming freshmen that are not getting the publicity that they deserve.

jayhawkintexas 11 years, 1 month ago

They say the lure of life in North Dakota, the weather there and the openings left by NDSU's graduating seniors are too good to pass up. TexasHawk44 11 years, 1 month ago

KY(lube?)_Cat1: it doesn't matter whether X signs with you or not. Cal has deep pockets and no moral values and he gets recruits because he beats up little girls and steals their candy (CUSA) but one thing he simply can't do...and that is coach. Oh, he can make sure everyone gets paid on time and can roll out a ball to bunch of great athletes and hope they have enough talent to win..but he cannot teach (because he does not know) and he cannot coach because growing up running the numbers did not prepare him to do that. So lube up your cat with your KY, and prepare to watch your team come oh so close to winning, but fall short...because e being good at lying and paying kids under the table doesn't help you when the game is on the line and you are playing a real team with a real coach...

RockChalkMoFo 11 years, 1 month ago

The only good thing to come out of Ky is my favorite slang term for a mullet; "Kentucky Neckwarmer"

I had heard Cal on the Dan Patrick show saying he was not recruiting any of the players he had signed at Memphis, he was encouraging them all to stay with Memphis.....ya right.

The Henry's will most likely pick Cal again, I think X will have the best chance to win a Title at KU and KU will have the best chance to win the Title with X. I don't see Lance being as dominant offensive player at the D1 level and could be a liability on the defensive end.

Little and Releford will develop this offseason and step up big in 09.

Guaranteed: KU will win its next Natl Championship before Calipari wins his first.

KY_Cat's is right about 1 thing... way too many people on here are ridiculing and mocking prospective jayhawks. regardless of what most of your think of X, CJ or Lance, Self OBVIOUSLY thinks highly of them or he wouldn't still be recruiting them. It seems to me that if you are dissing X, CJ or Lance... you are dissing Self and his judgment for wanting them as jayhawks. i agree, no one is bigger than the program, but self obviously doesn't agree with those of you who are saying that these kids are drama queens. again, if he thought that, he would not be going this hard after them. i trust self. whoever he brings in, i will be thrilled to cheer for and call our own.

it reminds me of the recruiting story when OU was recruiting adrian peterson. cale gundy, told him, "we are gonna win championships with or without you... we would love for you to be a part". i would think that is self's message to these guys, something like, "look, we are going deep next year with or without you"... i think that self would be giddy at the addition of either lance or X. i think as KU fan's (if you are in fact fans) is to have that same attitude. if they are worthy in national coach of the year, bill self's sight, i say "bring em on".

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

why the hell are there kentucky fans on this web page???!!! REALLY KENTUCKY???? REALLY!? nothing better to do so you create an account on a different university website so you can throw in your 2 cents which i can guarantee no one here gives a crap about. If you really think getting X will help you guys then your dumber than you look (and believe me you look retarded) under coach Cal UK will have a never ending supply if OAD and will essentially never amount to anything. I put money on it that coach Cal gets busted for recruiting scandals before UK wins a championship. and wall is not better than collins. he has potential to be better but as of now he isnt. and wall is either going to the NBA or leaving after year one. so lets say UK gets Wall and X. i say they have a good squad but wont win a championship because of inexperience and cause Cal cant coach worth a crap. (evidence is the championship game against KU. any good coach would have used his timeout to remind his "intelligent" players to foul.) so after one year wall cousins and x are gone. which leaves you with ultimately a lot of talented players who didnt get to play enough to understand how to compete at the college level. good luck with that!!!

No way Self pulls the offer. That's just a rumor.

No one plays wing D like X. Self wants him.

These rumors get going (look above at all of the negative comments) because posers get on these sites pretending to like KU but have "one" thing that makes them mad -- thee posers are from Duke, UNC, Lexingtooth, etc.

They're all over this website.

X & CJ -- do you want a championship ring?

If so come to KU -- you might have noticed, the last 6 games UK's coach has played against bigger conferences, he's lost FOUR. Won two of six.

So what's he going to do with you guys in the SEC with next to no bench and a team that hasn't practiced his system for more than a few months?

You guys want to play fast? UK will average 65 per game next year -- that's just the reality with no bench.

KU will average close to 90.

Come win a ring with us.

well his point is that the companies and organizations that make an impact in the future of our country are usually located in big cities like New York, LA, Chicago, etc. so they leave lawrence because duty calls. but im sure your grads are doing soo much for this nation sweeping up spills at walmart. its not a secret. its an incest filled town with the whole population focusing on what was.

He didn't even like Kentucky as a little lad, yet is going to check it out. I ask why???? Just maybe CJ is calling the shots. (Umm) Love you Carl I know you want your boys to come to KU.

I would like to confront those that have said this is the biggest decision of X's life. I would ask how???? He isn't going to finish college, the NBA is already calling for his services, and his family is going to move where ever he signs. Here's the reality if you don't get CJ you don't get the X. Now lets be quite frank CJ is running out of time for a career in basketball. Why would he come to KU???? Hell he be lucky to see any back up minutes let alone start. I know, I know i'm waking you up from your dream but don't hate me for what I'm writing. For you homers that think we have to have the X must I remind of the "history" "tradition" of Kansas Basketball. KU will win with or with out the X or any 5 star recruit for that matter. Besides if X doesn't with us there is Born Ready.

You know if we're all going to "speculate" then lets "speculate" on something fun! Which one of these posters on is going to get fired from their job first from posting all day instead of GETTING BACK TO WORK! Thus resulting in that persons ability to pay rent much less the cable bill which further results in an inability to even watch any KU basketball in 6 months thus again making talking about this NOW really a dumb idea! Anyone? Anyone seeing my point?

Greg Lux 11 years, 1 month ago

I think X has convinced himself that Calipari's style of offense is made for him. Let's face it CJ is a dead duck except at Memphis so between KU and UK it comes down to Calipari. X choose him once and will in the end stay with him so he doesn't look stupid ( in his mind only ). We all know HCBS is the better coach but for some reason X didn't want to come to KU. He can say CJ but he's not a factor now so when he chooses UK it will be all about his misguided conception that Calipari is the coach for him. Sad but that happens kids are kids and they make the wrong decision too.

We have a great team and will have a great team without X, let him find out the hard way that he didn't pick the right school if he doesn't go to KU.

Here is how its going to go down:

Henrys again cancel visit to UK Henrys say they want to go to KU Henrys decide to visit and actually do visit UK afterall Henrys make a statement Henrys issue a statement correcting previous statment Henrys issue statement going to have a family meeting Henrys delay family meeting Henrys have family meeting Henrys issue statement about family meeting Henrys issue different statement about family meeting Cal visits the Henrys X seen driving a new UK blue Lexus the next day Henrys make a statement about the visit Henrys change the statement then have a family meeting Henrys issue a statement that they are going to be making a statement Henrys make a statement they have made a decision on a school Henrys set a press conference to announce their choice Henrys say at the press conf. its a tough decision, they want to visit Memphis again

Fast forward a few more weeks/years

X finally signs with Cal again, CJ tries baseball again and signs with the Marlins, then 3 years later CJ quits baseball again and finally gets his chance to play for Cal the recently fired and newly hired head coach at Weber State.

We're really comparing the demographics and income levels of the residents of Lawrence and Lexington. Now, I'm a gung ho, die hard KU fan, but this is absurd.

UK fans have just reduced themselves to the level of KState and Mizzou fans: Their school sucks so the focus their energy over talking smack on ours. Did I just feel the sales of Bucknell and Bradley T-shirts spike up too? Congrats UK fans, you are now officially losers.

God help me if I ever go to a UK site, or a Mizzou site, or a Memphis site, or a Duke site and talk trash. Thank god I have a real team to root for. Its good to be a Jayhawk.

As far as X goes, have at him. Calimari probably told CJ that he can make him an NBA star - that's why he's so hung up on Cal. Calimari leaves a grease stain when he walks down the street. He reeks of polmade and mortadella and BS.

We'll take Stephenson and the 2010 nat'l championship. You take the Henry's and another NIT birth. LOSERS!

Didn't the 'Cats just get kicked to the curb (i.e., Memorial Colosseum) to play their home NIT games because of the state high school b-ball tourney?!?! Your arena my a$$!!!

jayhawkinATL 11 years, 1 month ago

Once and for all...X and C.J. are not going to either KU or UK!!!

The two are just milking both schools for what it's worth. It's apparent that they plan to hold each other's hand thru life.

Bottomline: C.J. stays at Memphis and X goes to Memphis.

There is no way in hell the NCAA grants C.J. a waiver based on the lameness of his reason; the NCAA knows it would set a dangerous precedence in doing so.

Jack Wilson 11 years, 1 month ago

To quote minipman above, "this henry kid is makin to much of a big deal about all this." Couldn't have said it better myself.

My guess is Self has told Lance we want him and want him now. Lance is just hesitating because Self has told him we never stop recruiting and Lance wants to make sure he won't play behind Henry. Lance is patient. He wants to come to KU, and when X goes to Memphis or UK, he'll sign. I've been concerned we'll lose both, but as time goes by I'm less concerned. Lance has a plan B. And he's patient. And he's smart. And he wants to come to KU. Hope he can be a Jayhawk.

What a soap opera this business has become. Get it over. Kentucky fell on hard times in the last few years. They have had good coaches from KU graduate Rupp onward, including Cal, so I don't know what their problem has been. Maybe they've solved it. They have always had their share of lousy fans, and Rupp usually picked the right referees for the game calls he needed. I will be glad when the Henrys and Stephenson decide. Get a life.

Kentucky fans crack me up...

They claim to be the most "knowledgable" fans in college basketball, yet I have never seen such ignorance from an entire fan base. They act as if Calipari walks on water and they are already counting their championships before this guy even coaches a single game in the SEC conference.

Another thing that cracks me up is that Kentucky fans honestly believe that when X walks into Rupp Arena and sees the banners hanging from the rafters, that he will be ready to sign his LOI at UK. Wow...seriously? He only cares about the present and he's looking for a coach that is going to best prepare him for the NBA and put him in the national spotlight doing it.

Andrew Moore 11 years, 1 month ago

The Henry's are family! You guys need to cool it. These guys will decide soon enough. We all know that the only reason you guys say that crap is because you don't want to get too close and get hurt emotionally.

You all secretly wish that X would just say, "I choose Kansas!" and you're just preparing for the worst case scenario ("I choose Memphis").

I want either X &CJ or Lance. Either will get the job done.

As far as KY fans being knowlegable about the game. How in the hell do you give Gillespie such a raw deal, he didn't have enough time to get his system going. Cal may struggle the first 2 years. You can't say whether he will or not, but I can say that Billy Gillespie was royally screwed out there in the bluegrass. BTW, what the hell is bluegrass (other than bad music)?
If Kansas fans were as dumb as KY fans Self would've been at OSU after he lost in the first round twice, but we knew it was just growing pains. We know the game, the ups and downs. KY fans, you only know what the good lord Cal tells you! He hasn't coached a single game and you are already on top of the world.
Even if you guys get X and CJ, and we don't get Lance. We would stomp you in the tournament.
Go back to your precious bluegrass.

".....fear our future". With your new coach, YOU and all CATS need to fear for YOUR future!

Just do a little research on Cal's tenure in Memphis and what kind of influence he was on his players. Why do you think he was sucessful in bringing players to CUSA? Was it his ability to groom them for the NBA? Well, there are maybe two active players in the league now from his nearly decade-long run in Memphis. Maybe top recruits were promised and given more than a tutorial on basketball for coming to Memphis. I would hope that the UK athletic honchos and university chancellor is prepared for the bling, spinners and whips that will no doubt come along with the new head Cat! "Whoop that trick, git it!"

rcjh22 11 years, 1 month ago

Henrys go to UK. C.J. doesn't do a lick and plays 4 minutes a game all season. Xavier is the best player on UK but they lose in the Round of 32. Lance balls with Sherron and Cole and we march our way to the National Championship.

100 11 years, 1 month ago

Hmmmm. The Henrys aren't taking the UK visit now?

Maybe they got a call from CatCatCat & decided to stay put

jayhawkboogeyman 11 years, 1 month ago

"Xavier and C.J. Henry have taken a giant step forward in the decision making process. Instead of taking a visit to Kentucky this weekend, the duo will make a final decision about their future. When will a decision be made, Jayhawk Slant just spoke to Carl Henry, and has the very latest inside." This has been a wild weekend, but, if they actually go through with this, I suspect they may commit to Kansas. By the morning, though, Xavier will probably reschedule the visit after all. I still think there is NO way CJ is cleared to play next year, so a surprise decision to stay with Memphis is not out of the question.

You are what you say...and that goes for both KU and UK fans on this site today. What a disappointing display of name calling, sarcasm, anger and stupidity.

Kansas has a great traditon...Kentucky fans deal with it. Kentucky has a great tradition...Kansas fans deal with it.

These are 18 year old kids trying to make the decision of their lives with probably fifty people pulling them every which direction. I will admit it...I was an idiot at 18 and probably would be in the same boat if I was in their shoes.

X, CJ, Lance, John..if any of you guys read this site today just realize that you are wanted. And all you guys and gals today, the very fact that the players decisions conflict with our opinions, means zilch to what may be right for them.

Geez, a little class.

Thanks for bringing some sense and reason to this thread Oakville...

I wanted to comment before, but I was so disgusted with both KU and UK fans that I didn't even want to put my name in that mix.

Xavier wants to play with CJ, and CJ doesn't know where he wants to play. I think it's awesome that Xavier is willing to sacrifice so much to play with his brother for a year... They are a tight family. These kids seem classy to me, and I wish them nothing but the best regardless of where they end up.

Overheard outside George Steinbrenner's office: C. J Henry wants us to write a check to UK, no KU, no UofM? What's wrong with that kid? Let's just bring him back along with Xavier to the Yankees. Maybe Madonna could close the deal for us.

We have no other life.... Actually, I think that most of us want our team to excel, but hold a hidden resentment for the $$$$ these punks will make

mjlindsm 11 years, 1 month ago

I wouldn't be surprised if CJ is able to get a waiver and be elligible for next year. If the rule is that you have to sit out a year before playing at a school you transfer to, then he's already done it. Plus, he's got money; maybe he can find a good enough attorney to weasel through a loophole. Does Johnny Cochran have a son?

Problem is, I'm guessing he would have a hard time cracking the KU rotation. At Kentucky,t they need a point guard. If my memory serves, he's a 2 guard, but Calipari has had success playing a 2 at the 1 spot - see Tyreke Evans last year.

For those of you saying you're sick of all this drama, please show it by not paying attention to it. I love the way we hear something different every time a Henry is interviewed; it's exciting and dramatic, even a bit funny. It's like a good movie.

To all you UK fans out there,

Let me ask you a question, what school gave UK basketball the worst beating in their "rich" basketball tradition?

Look it up (it was KU)

And to the UK fan that stated that Lawrence has a higher percentage below the poverty line than Lexington, thats prolly because Lawrence is about 80% college kids and Lexington is about 80% morons...UK will not win a championship under Coach Cal because he is the worst actual in basketball, he is a salesman and thats guess is that 3 years down the line UK will be under probation because Cal is an idiot and he will get them in trouble...I mean he put together the best team that he could ever get together at Memphis and he still didnt win a championship...UK is not back and they are digging their own grave by hiring this moron...I am happy that they hired Cal though because I didnt think I could hate UK more but I was wrong...UK has not been relevant for years and they will continue to be irrelevant in the coming go back to your shanties UK fans and get off this KU website...your hilbilly ways are starting to get annoying

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

Also there are numerous reports out there that X and CJ are going to visit UK this weekend after all and there are also reports that say they are still going to visit UK this who really knows at this point? we should all just be patient and trust Bill Self...I think that the rumors that Bill said he would pull the offer if they visited UK may have some truth to them because it seems they are suddenly undecided about visiting UK this weekend...Maybe they will commit to KU on wednesday but if they visit this weekend then maybe self will pull the offer and just sign Lance...numerous reports are out there that state that Lance is still waiting on the Henry boys to make a decision which tells me that Self would have to kiss some ass but he could still get Lance if he wants him...I think Bill should act fast though and make sure he gets at least one of these kids because to be honest we dont really know how good Little will be next year because he didnt play much this year so I do think it would be nice to add another wing to the roster

100 11 years, 1 month ago

Just read it is official -- no visit to UK.

Perhaps this means they both want to win a championship next year?

Perhaps this also means they would like to run fast & run often at 90 points per game next year.

Good decision Henrys -- we can't wait to welcome you!

Im with Bluto, at this point I want the Bad Ass kid that is as tough as any kid in the country and takes no crap from anyone...X and CJ seem like 2 spoiled, pampered brats...give me toughness any day of the week...we need Cole to get tougher so we should surround him with tougher players...Bring on Lance...I personally think hes the better player anyways...He sure got the best of X in the McDonalds game near the end of the game and won the game for the East...and for the UK this video and let me know what you think of Cousins:

That video is why I want Lance Stephenson, X couldnt do that even if he tried as hard as he could

Calipari is not going to stumble through the SEC. He left Conference USA for the SEC...

Uhh.. Hello, the talent left that conference when Donovan won back-to-back titles. It has stunk ever since. Calipari can win the SEC next year, but that isn't saying much. It is terrible right now. Why do you think Georgia was getting ready to pay Anderson mega-dollars to bring him in, because they knew the conference was up for grabs.

Now the ten-year-old Wildcat fan on heroin earlier that posted they would be winning three of the next five titles needs to wake up. Cal will have solid recruiting classes every year. Is that new, is that ground breaking that Kentucky woudl have recruits?

I think your school is cursed, actually. You had Rick Pitino bail on you because he couldn't take the alumni there. Rick... Pitino... Then you brought in Tubby Smith, a standup guy who won ballgames, but he couldn't win enough. He left you for Minnesota, and then you had to watch that team in the NCAA while you were "playing hard" in the NIT. After Tubby came Gillespie, a booze hound that was a good recruiter and a good coach, and it was bad business from day one. It was like a marriage of two belligerent, dirty old men. You both wanted some action, but nobody's peter was able to get up for the deal so you just fought about it.

Somewhere in the back of the Wildcat faithfuls mind, they know, if this Calipari experiment fails to win titles in three years or less, they will react harsh, and where would they possibly turn next? They are one failed coach from being the Oakland Raiders of college basketball, "We used to be glorious, but now? We just hire and fire 'em."

And what happens if they get into trouble with the rulebook? Surely Cal would never... Oh wait...

I hope you hillbillies get everything you deserve and paid for.

litlmikeyb 11 years, 1 month ago

Not that I am getting overly excited over this latest development, since I'm sure this will change once again, but someone posted this link on the board at zagsblog.

I believe based on the article time stamp, this is the latest on the whole saga:

The Henrys are now synonymous with Big Blue basketball and the city of Lexington, college basketball’s Mecca. It is a fact that others do not want to accept, but will be forced to do so imminently.

It helps, of course, when your fan base shows the love and respect to a great family that other programs do not. The Blue Mist opens its arms to players while others slam doors and ridicule. All that young recruits and their families need to see when considering these lesser programs.

The greatest program in NCAA history becomes greater each day. Coach Cal has us poised to go through the next decade with the most wins, the most Final Fours, and most importantly by far, the most NCAA championships.

Go Big Blue!!! We love you!!!

The Henry's are synonymous with Kentucky B-Ball? In case you have not heard, they have not committed to Kentucky. The fact that you would make such an ignorant statement shows that the rest of the country is correct in assuming Kentuckians are too stupid to realize they live in a state and not a commonwealth. FYI...things changed a few years ago. Slavery has also been abolished in case you were wondering. It is also pretty sad that you are pinning all of your hopes on one possible incoming freshman. That shows that state of your program. 19-6 all time against KU, but we have won the last 3 and will continue to do so because we have the superior program (by far, not even close anymore) and the superior coach. Again, not even close. Say hi to Ashley for the rest of us. That's the only thing you have going for you at this point. Oh and by the way, since you are such a basketball purist, I'm sure you remembered that she said Allen Fieldhouse was the bast basketball environment she has ever been to, right? This was in 2006 after KU waxed the kittens 73-46.

Please make sure to not forget about your new home page,, after the Henry's sign with KU. We would love to hear about "the blue mist" that is falling from your eyes.

JayhawkLova7 11 years, 1 month ago

Wow, I actually thought that UK fans had some class, guess I was wrong.... Oh well, apparently X and CJ know who they are going to decide since they canceled their trip and are presumably going to make a decision on Wednesday, but who knows they may decide to unexpectately visit. At this point I am going to keep my hopes neutral and hopefully be delightfully surprised when they decide to come to the greatest Basketball University ever!!!

It probably is hard for you UK fans to deal with the decline of your basketball team, but that doesn't give you a right to come on here and trash talk our Jayhawks! Considering we are leaps and bounds better then you guys. Oh, and we would play you any time but we don't really want to do it in the NIT so maybe you all should step up your play so you can play some quality teams. Not that anything that you guys say sways the Henry's decisions, or makes your team any worse then they already are.

I think in the end the Henry's will make the correct decision and come to the school that has class, tradition, and a future on the court celebrating a newly won National Championship! Now it's up to you Henry's do you want to be a part of a National Championship? Or a team that has all the stars and stumbles because of their selfish attitudes and flashy plays? W

Would you rather have a coach that cares about his players, wins games, has proven how amazing a coach he really is? Or a coach that thinks he's good, who mystery surrounds, and who can talk a fish out of water just to fry him on the grill?

Well Henry's you decide.

Folks: tab over to FOOTBALL and read the article on our QB. Then go to and read the Kentucky hype. They are going to announce Henry brothers at their visit. I continue to trust HCBS.

So why have they already removed the link to the "new" article posted early this morning? Has something occurred to cause this that would be good to know about?

danette8084 11 years, 1 month ago

Word on the OKC street is that it's UK. X will not be a OAD so to play with big brother like the OU Griffin brothers. Coach C has sold them both on a National Championship. It's really all about Coach C. The school is secondary.

jaybate 11 years, 1 month ago

} liljayhawker15, very funny stuff!

} Regarding UK fans on the site, I've known some UK fans and they were decent, respectful, and proud folk, unlike our recent visitors. This suggests the possibility that the supposed UK visitors are actually some of the Memphis lurkers some months back when Memphis still had a D1 basketball program.

} If Carl Henry is not trolling for a job with Calipari, then what in heavens name are his sons, X and CJ, doing even thinking about UK? I could see them visiting Roy or Coach K, but Calipari in rebuilding mode at UK? Cousins and Orton are not going to be ready to control the paint in the Final Four next year. Looney tunes. Animaniac-ac-ac-acs.

} I am not sure why so many are still doubting Self for betting the farm on Henry. If I recall correctly, Self long ago offered Stephenson a ride. Stephenson waited. I hardly think Self withdrew the offer to Henry. Stephenson appears to be the one who is waiting to see what Henry will do. Stephenson reputedly lacks the guarrantied 40-45% trifecta gun. Henry has it. This makes Henry the ideal fit for next year's team. He is a plug and play three with a great gun that could perfectly complement the down the middle game. All the worry seems to hinge on the risk of losing Stephenson, if Henry chooses Calipari again. But if Self has the offer out on the table, and Stephenson has decided to wait, so as not to get caught in a numbers game at KU, how is Self doing anything wrong?

} I would still much rather have had Orton, or Cousins, than either of these guys. KU's likely great season is going to come when Woolridge hits town. A dominant, seasoned 5 waiting for Woolridge would guarranty us a couple shots at a ring, instead of just this one next year. I never like trading one chance for two.

} Frankly, I would love to have Carl Henry work at KU. He's one of ours. He was a terrific player. He's Mr. AAU in Oklahoma, and Oklahoma has been producing a lot of high school talent lately that KU has missed on. How does KU miss out on both the Griffins and Orton? Come, Lew, make room for one of our own. Hire Carl Henry.

TheTruth08 11 years, 1 month ago

I'm so over all of this. It's gotten to a point where it is comical now. It's something to laugh and joke about. I feel bad for HCBS for having to put up with this mess. It's crazy. I'm all for grabbing Lance Stephenson, calling it a Championship, and putting a full-court press on Harrison Barnes for the 2010-2011 season. Royce Woolridge, Elijah Johnson and Harrison Barnes, in a guard rotation would be sweet. I hear Harrison's better than Lance and X anyway.

Tony Bandle 11 years, 1 month ago

Jaybate, my thoughts exactly. This would be more than a "recruiting hire". [although in all honesty that would be there i.e. Senior Manning, Senior Chalmers, etc.]

Still, a Kansas legend with a Jayhawk wife and sister[in-law?], would be an outstanding representative for our university.

Also, what if Mom, Dad and big brother were all in town. Xavier might reconsider the one and done route, stay another year and fulfill his dream in the best environment anywhere.

I guess you can look at the canceled UK visit two ways:

The boys know all they need to know about Coach Cal and his ethic. or the boys know all they need to know about Coach Cal and his ethic.

I guess we will know soon.......or not.

<p> is referencing a report that has surfaced today indicating that Kansas is out of the Henry Sweepstakes. The same reference is made in a thread on zagsblog.

alucard 11 years, 1 month ago

I lived in Kentucky for the better part of my life. I know the reason that most people don't leave that state once there in it is not because it is such a great place, it because it is a black hole. I have friends from high school that hate the place and have tried to leave and find themselves always moving back for one reason or another. Anyone that gets out of that state should consider themselves lucky. The only thing most people in that state know how to do is drink Busch Light and yell.

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

all i have seen is that people are saying that a report surfaced? but where is the report then? is there any proof of any of this?

Winning the appeal or not to play at UK or KU next year; CJ would still get to play against his brother everyday in practice. LOL! Is that what he's talking about? Oh, he probably wants to be able to play in the games with his brother next year. LOL!

On a serious note, is CJ that good? I know he was recruited by KU out of High School, but does he have the skillset right now to make an impact? Does he have the skills to make an impact next year for KU? I have no idea because I have never seen CJ play nor do I remember anything about him in the past. Would CJ most likely sit the bench next year if he was cleared to play or not. Just curious. Not many people talking about CJ.

Andrew Moore 11 years, 1 month ago

Just judging on the fact that CJ was offered coming out of high school, and then didn't come because he was drafted by the Yankees, I would just guess that he has some amazing athletic talents. If he and X came to KU, I would say that they both would contribute right away. CJ is not going to be playing the point much, Collins and Taylor will own that role, but he could share time with Tyrel Elijah and Brady at the 2. He would have to earn his PT though - and beat somebody out for those minutes.
I really don't know if he has improved his game since high school, or he could've slowed down a step. I really don't know, I'm just speculating. Self doesn't just give minutes away.

I hope they visit Kentucky, and then they KNOW they want to come to Kansas. Carl Henry was a great player here at Kansas. I know nothing would make him happier than seeing his sons play at Kansas.

I think whats been forgotten in this story is how close KU was to landing Lance Stephenson. That guy is a fantastic talent. I just hope he will come if X and CJ tell us no. Hell, I'd love both Lance and X and CJ to come, but I think that's a huge stretch of the imagination.

Xavier, CJ, please just make a decision. If they choose Kansas they will not regret it!

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

CJ is good, but i don't think he would crack the lineup of Sherron, Taylor, EJ, Morningstar. i haven't seen him play in a while. the thing i remember most is how easily (at the HS level) CJ was able to get his shot off. he had a very elusive game. he would play well within the flow of the offense, yet at the end of the night would end up with 26 pts. i don't think i would call him a quiet scorer.... i just remember leaving the gym thinking he played well but was always pleasantly suprised to see the numbers he would put up. i would liken CJ to a much more physical Jeremy Case. CJ is built a little tougher. However, CJ was not as much of a pure shooter, but a much more able scorer. again, all of this is what i remember from watching him 4 yrs ago? just some jumbled thoughts... hope it helps...

Ok, now I consider myself fairly well informed when it comes to KU BB. However I must have been absent the day someone coined the phrase OAD. Everybody keeps refering to the Henry brother as OAD's. Will someone please catch me up on this axiom! On another note, I still remember last fall when the Memphis low lifes got on here and talked trash. Now it's the UK neanderthals. Just remember, when you have a BB program that others wish to emulate, your going to get the wrath of the wanna be's. Keep up the excellent defense.

Xavier doesn’t sound like someone who is sold on UK. Sounds more like a courtesy visit. Who knows… I don’t suppose anyone will want to comment ; )

KUbsee69 11 years, 1 month ago

Some on this chain have posted "show class" comments about the KU vs UK banter. Well, I for one think that is what sports is all about. What fun would it be without the rivalries and associated jawing.

On that note, I was looking at the UK campus on Google Earth at lunchtime. It's OK if you like English style industrial cities. Reading, UK comes to mind.

But, let's give them a break. Afterall Kentucky has some good points. Like:

1) That famous sour mash whiskey ... oh, wait, that's Tennessee 2) That great country music capital ... oh, wait, that's Tennessee again 3) Graceland ... oh, wait ... (you know) 4) Grass, blue ... oh, wait, fescue is the "in" choice now 5) Ashley Judd ... oh, wait ... has been 6) 30th best Standard of Living in USA ... oh, wait, Kansas is 7th!

Well, I tried to find something :)

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

haha good stuff...I just wish that UK people wouldn't be so arrogant and come onto a KU website and make comments...I mean how stupid is that? I would hope that no one on here would do that on a UK website because that's embarrassing...I think we should just be talking about the possibilities that can happen and continue to post the new reports that come out from the media...there is no sense in speculating because honestly no one knows what the Henry's are thinking or what they are gonna due...lets just wait and see...ESPN still lists KU as the leader for the Henry sweepstakes and as long as there is not a report out saying otherwise I am gonna stick with KU being the leader...Nothing has been said that leads me to believe that UK is the favorite...KU is in a good position because if we dont get X then we are likely to get Lance...A source close to Lance said that he was waiting on X to make a decision and that if X chose UK then it was likely that Lance would choose KU...There might be some truth to that rumor that Self is gonna pull the offer on X if they visit UK and if that is the case then maybe we will here about Lance signing with KU within a week...either way KU should get one of these great recruits and I can't wait to watch KU basketball next season

JayJayPG 11 years, 1 month ago

jayhawkerjoel - I'm not sure X is sold on UK either. Maybe it took a tag team effort from CJ, Cal, World Wide Wes, and Cousins just to get him to come visit...

I never try to berate a fellow poster but...ARE YOU CRAZY!!!???? :}

Xavier will run circles around Brady...and don't jump on me about Brady. I love the kid. His toughness, hustle, heart and resolve have no bounds. Unfortunately, his physical skills do.

He will be the ideal "shot in the arm" sub off the bench, the two or three trip down the court defensive stopper, the zone-buster three point bomber, but with all due respect, I think many Jayhawks have a blind spot when it comes to realizing his weaknesses.

My friend, please believe me, it's not about berating Brady but rather recognizing the huge upside with Xavier or Lance for that matter. No doubt, Brady is a valuable cog in the KU machine ......but definitely not indispensible.

Champs_R_Us 11 years, 1 month ago

I want Lance, plain and simple. It is apparent that he wanted to come here from the get-go. He said he wanted to win a championship in his one-and-done year. Think there is any chance that's happening at St.John's or Maryland? I don't think so, and he doesn't either. However, it is also apparent that Self prefers X to Lance. Many people say that Lance is awaiting the decision of X, which is partly true, but there is a rumor floating around (which I actually believe 100%) that can play out two different ways.

  1. X and CJ commit to becoming Jayhawks. We use the excuse that we were still trying to determine whether Lance violated rules with regards to his website/tv show BornReady, and that is why we put the brakes on him.
  2. X and CJ become UK Wildcats or Memphis Tigers. We accept Lance with open arms and say the whole website things has been cleared up.

Both of these situations sicken me, because I see Lance as a person who genuinely loves basketball. It seems like we are cheating on him just weeks after we were about to get married with him. Let's sign Lance and enjoy a 2010 championship with players who actually want to play at KU and not just use the university as a stepping stone to The League.

Lastly--doesn't he remind you guys of Paul Pierce? He is gritty, tough, plays with unrelentless emotion, unorthodox but lethally effective, and the best quality-gets to the rim with regularity. Any thoughts on this?

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

i agree with you... Xavier would run circle's around Brady (i too love brady). if you go back and read my post, i was talking about CJ.

i was merely stating to kushaw (who asked where CJ may fit) that i thought that CJ would prob not crack that rotation. Sherron and Taylor are set, then the next would probably be EJ with Brady coming in much like you said, "as a shot in the arm".... CJ may even be able to be one of those guards for some Releford type minutes (maybe more?)... i just haven't seen him play in a long while.

Tony Bandle 11 years, 1 month ago

kufankam.....That's a big OOPS on my part...sorry. You're post is exactly right regarding CJ.

Can anyone help me.....are they or are they not going to UK?????????????

You all know what would be the ultimate insanity????........

"Hi, X and CJ here...oh the heck with it, we're stayin' at Memphis, but thanks for all the kind words and thoughts!!!" :}

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

well if they go to Memphis at least Cal doesnt get them but then he might go after Lance...I think Self should cut the cord with the Henry's and get the LOI from lance ASAP because if they end up staying at Memphis then we may very well lose out on Lance as well

jayhawkboogeyman 11 years, 1 month ago

KUCrazy - That seems right. Xavier says that his #1 priority is to play with is brother and make the NBA in one year, and Memphis is the only way that can happen. There is absolutely no way CJ will be cleared to play next season at KU or UK, so unless Xavier is willing to put his own dreams of NCAA title and NBA ahead of his/family's desire to keep the kids together for 1 year, even though they are 18 and 22 year old adults, then they will both be at Memphis next season. Playing mid-level talent in CUSA will hardly be an upgrade from the AAU circuit for Xavier and will ultimately set him back if he, indeed, makes the NBA after one year. There's no way to know if Xavier or his mom is the one who really wants the boys to play together for a year, but if that is the only thing that will determine where they go, then Xavier and CJ will stay at Memphis, and this month-long drama will be a waste. This has been my thinking, certainly not my hope, for a while now, since Xavier says repeatedly that he and CJ are a package deal, that both boys will stick with Memphis. Nothing is certain at this point, but there is almost no chance whatever that CJ will play elsewhere next year.

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

tell me what yall think about this article:

this is why I think that there is truth to that rumor that if they visited UK then Self would pull the offer...and now they cant decide if they want to visit UK or not...and this is also why I think we need to take a pretty for sure thing in Lance rather than take our chances with X...but thats just me

KUcrazy 11 years, 1 month ago

I dont think Self would tell them that but who knows.....I guess somebody

I do think we should sign Lance...The guy can flat out play

LPH_hawkfan 11 years, 1 month ago

To all the great Jayhawk fans on this site,

Way to come to the defense of our beloved Hawks when they were under attack by some lonely lonely individuals from CRAP-tucky who have nothing better to do then to write on OUR site. Xavier may very well choose Craptucky and Craptucky may even win alot of games and thats ok, because Kansas will still be one of the best if not THE best team in the nation for the next 15-20 yrs, at least. Coach Self is far from done when it comes to collecting wins, confrence championships, and Nat Championships. Its only a matter of time (2-3 yrs max) before we pass Craptucky on the all time win list.

To the Craptucky Crappycats,

Enjoy your new sleaze-ball of a coach. I hope that you get used to winning many games but never the ones that really matter. Yes you will have much talent every year, but so will we. Last but not least, enjoy watching the KANSAS JAYHAWKS in the Final Four in Indy.

Personally I think Lance is better than X anyways...he may not shoot as well but he can really get to the basket and he can handle the ball well and he is way tougher than X is...but I understand why HCBS doesnt want to let X go because he has already invested a ton of time into X and X has been his top priority for the last 4 some point though we have to sign someone and this whole X thing is getting ridiculous and everyone is sick of hearing about it...I want to know what we are going to have next season already!!!

ku_jayhawk09 11 years, 1 month ago

I don't know if anyone has seen this, I didn't have time to read all 250 comments lol. But on the they are reporting that is reporting a meeting with the Henry family and Memphis administration. and they even went to the point of saying Memphis is the slight leader right now. I don't know how to take this, i don't know how to take anything right with all this back and forth junk. But o well, just thought i would put it out there.

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

yeah we had heard that Memphis was back in it but I mean honestly no one knows who the leader is but I wouldnt be shocked if they stayed at Memphis because that is the only way X and CJ can actually play together...but like I said I would rather have Lance is bad news though because 1. we wont get X (at least I dont think so) 2. this may open the door for Calipari to go after Lance...and that is why now would be the time to pursue Lance and try to get him to commit to KU seems to me like X has no interest in becoming a Jayhawk so lets just let him be...I am going to be pretty upset if we dont get Lance because we could have signed him about a month ago had we just not gone after X at all...we will be good either way but we still need another solid wingman...I am sure HCBS knows what he is doing though

actorman 11 years, 1 month ago

Wow is this a long thread! I got about halfway through, then got tired, so maybe someone's already responded to this:

"Can't wait to kick your coach's A$$ again. Won't happen in 2009-10 though, cause you won't smell the elite eight much less the Final Four...Sorry Pu$$y Cat!"

You're way off base, TexasHawk. Just because UK won't even sniff the Final Four doesn't mean we can't crush them in an early round. UK might slide by enough to get an 8 or 9 seed. Then KU, as a 1 seed, will show them why with a 30-point thrashing.

TexasHawk44 11 years, 1 month ago

nice find khelm9...whether this is just another false statement from Carl remains to be seen. I guess, either these brothers are really torn on what they want or something strange is going on in the background. Now Xavier has a prom to attend so they won't visit UK. Was this a surprise prom? I mean, I just don't get this whole situation. I love Carl and what he did at KU and X seems like a good kid and is a helluva player, but this whole on-again-off-again stuff has gotten crazy. I am a die-hard fan watching the net every day to see what will happen, but even for me this is getting tiresome. Let's hope this situation resolves itself sooner than later. I wish they would just get it done with which ever way it rolls.

19jhwkr88 11 years, 1 month ago

anyone else ready for these to end? And I'm not talking about the recruiting so much as the the whole "we are visiting UK, Not visiting, Visiting, not sure anymore? Oh wait I got Prom this weekend" lol Oh and I would like to see an end to this tug-o-war of recruiting

TexasHawk44 11 years, 1 month ago

drnslayr, maybe it would be nuts but J. Wright committed to KU and never visted KU. Worked out pretty good for him/us.

TexasHawk44 11 years, 1 month ago

I'm with texashawk44. Sad to say but this whole story has almost become an obbsession over the last few weeks. I wake up and check the net. I get home for lunch and check the net. I get home from work and check the net. Wow, I just realized that I have a very pathetic life that is consumed by what some 18 and 19 yr old kids are gonna do after high Nah, really I'm completely happy with whatever happens with any of these kids. jaybate 11 years, 1 month ago

jaybate news service: Bulletin

Loop hole in NCAA recruiting regs allows recruiting of the X-Man to continue even after he picks a school and starts playing. NCAA recruiting reg Section 3942.a, Sub Section 123.99, Paragraph 19.6 is the culprit. Called the Uncertainty Clause, this regulation is automatically in force when an incoming freshman makes up his mind less than a week before deadline. In effect, the student athlete can be recruited through out his freshman season, even after he signs a letter of intent, and can play for up to three schools simultaneously during the regular season, if he believes doing so will help him eventually feel totally resolved in his choice. Note, however, the player is required to commit to play for only one school during the NCAA tournament.

Many are about as confident that Xavier would run circles around Brady, as were the Mario Little would run circles around Brady. Looking back, it might even be fair to say that persons were even more pessimistic about Brady's chances against Little than they are about his chances against Xavier. This is a great set up. This would absolutely crack the glutes sideways, if KU were to land either Xavier, or Lance, and Brady beat them out, too!

I can hear it now...

"Xavier was massively overrated, man, like so many OADs...Brady is just not that good. We've gotta get a 3 for next year."

"Lance came with a personality problem, man; that was the only reason Brady beat him out. Next season, Coach Self will have Lance straightened out and Brady won't have a chance."

"Xavier was injured..."

"Lance was injured..."

The only reason I am indulging in this is reverie is because I keep thinking back to all the guys the Utah Jazz drafted that were supposed to unseat Jeff Hornacek and never did. These guys were hot properties in the draft and were sure to beat out old Hornie...but they didn't. In fact, in the end, it was only old age the finally beat out Hornie. Funny looking gym rats who shoot 45% from trey, make over 80% of their FTs, make no TOs and defend tirelessly, just seem to fit into all kinds of teams, no matter how the schemes change, and keep hanging on.

No way, Brady couldn't beat out Xavier, or Lance! It could never happen in a million seasons!!

I certainly wouldn't bet on Brady, but, then, he is, like Hornacek, the kind of guy you never win much money betting against.

We ordinary folks really don't understand the intensely competitive players any more than we understand the super tall players.

How do the Hornaceks, Rodmans and Nashes do it? They don't have the freaking OAD bodies. They don't have the super star physiques. They aren't great early. They just keep getting better by inches, not by yards long after all the hot properties plateau. Just how freaking competitive do you have to be to be a Hornacek, Rodman, or Nash, to overcome all odds and be better than and outlast most of the hot properties. It has to be a level of competitiveness somewhere out in the 10th dimension or something.

Many are assuming Brady is done improving, that he has plateaued, and that he hasn't a chance against the supermen.

But history is full of supermen getting beaten out by the maniacally driven.

Who knows? Brady might be one of them.

Man, would it be fun, if he turned out to be one.

Xavier, Lance, welcome to two and done.

<p> is saying "Kentucky Ink learned tonight that Xavier and C.J. Henry have committed to Kansas."

Hawks2010 11 years, 1 month ago

A VERY VERY Close Soure to Coach Pastner told me this evening when all the news starting breaking about not going to Kentucky. There are numerous reasons why they have chosen to stay at Memphis and they will explain in the News Conference. That's all I can say right now...

Sorry fellow KU Fans, it's True...

Don't sweat it... We've got Lance coming our way! I must say, I'm very proud of how Lance has conducted himself during all of this hype the last 3 weeks.

jspawk 11 years, 1 month ago

dmoneyball - I'm not finding it on some of the other sites that you mentioned, but I do see that is reporting it.

Dillon Davis 11 years, 1 month ago

there are a few thousand people out there, both Kentucky, memphis, and especially Kansas fans that would have to disagree hawks2010

Hawks2010 11 years, 1 month ago

You all can believe what you want... Be sure you're sitting down tomorrow afternoon during the Press Conference because the Sports Nations will have a bomb shell dropped on them when they find out the Henry's are staying put in Memphis.

mjlindsm 11 years, 1 month ago

Sounds like none of this news really has any solid backbone to it. I'm not trusting a site that earlier today said Memphis was favorite, and now suddenly says it's Kansas.

I know this is off topic, but did anyone else watch Will Bynum tonight and the last part of this season and think, "Man, he is going to single-handedly make Sherron Collins a top 20 pick." Him and Collins have always reminded me of each other, the only difference being that Sherron is a far better shooter than Bynum ever was in college. Bynum is showing that a very quick, confident, good yet not great passing, strong, and short point guard definitely has a place in the NBA.

jspawk 11 years, 1 month ago

"Kentucky Ink learned tonight that Xavier and C.J. Henry have committed to Kansas." -

Hawks2010 - do you have any evidence? I would like to see something that says "Kentucky Ink learned tonight that Xavier and C.J. Henry have committed to Memphis"

Well what's one more day? Carl will tell us all tomorrow!

FairgroveJayhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

This is giving me gas. Sign somewhere, I'm out of pepto and tums.

The bottom line is KU is stacked pretty well. We are elite and will show elite representation next year with or without these recruits.

This is an exciting exension of the season regardless and I'm sure it will be cited for years to come.

JHaWk4EvA 11 years, 1 month ago

If it is true about them staying at memphis (which i dont believe they are) its better than them going to kentucky. We will still hopefully land lance and and we will be stacked next year regardless

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

I believe the Kentucky Ink one because its an ESPN affiliate and they wouldnt just report that out of nowhere

mjlindsm 11 years, 1 month ago

Thank you FairgroveJayhawk! Finally, somebody joins me in admitting that this is exciting! Why else would we constantly check on it? If people were truly sick of it, they'd stop paying attention until Latenight.

iluvdbskxjayhawks 11 years, 1 month ago

omg. when will this ever end? please end everyone's agony by tomorrow. I don't trust anybody's words until I see X & CJ announcing their destination.

Hawks2010 11 years, 1 month ago

Kentucky Ink is assuming the Henry's are going to KU because UK has officially been removed from the equation, however little do they know Pastner has been talking with the Henry's and Memphis has always been an option but the Media removed them from the picture when X asked for his release.

Last I heard, which was 15 minutes ago, the press conference is going to be approximately 2:30pm tomorrow afternoon in Memphis. Xavier, Carl and his Mom are flying to Memphis on NWA, Flight 2258 out of OKC arriving in Memphis at 1pm.

That's all the evidence/details I can give at the moment...

jspawk 11 years, 1 month ago

NWA....funny! Now I know your F.o.S...

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

give me a break...I dont believe that for a second...I think you are saying that because they had a meeting with Memphis today

FairgroveJayhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

4 or 5 times a day, check the sight, see it's groundhog day all over again, more bs hype being thrown in. It's like an online reality show. But great entertainment.

jaybate- I agree about Brady.

I see him being a better player than Russel Robinson who was not replaced by super Sheron Collins on last years National Championship Team. (yes, different positions) He's our next glue guy and I'm sure his defensive and consistent capacity has crossed the mind of X. I can hear the rebuttal comming but..... if we did not have a consistent defensive and team oriented "3". The decision might be easier for X.

Then again, if we were lacking at guard CJ would be unloading his gucci bags at the towers this week. Looks like we'll see tomorrow.

Hawks2010 11 years, 1 month ago

Why all the HAVIC??? We're getting Lance, which I'm excited about and all the rest of the KU Fans should be too! We should also be happy the Henry's are not going to KY.

So X punked us AGAIN, but life goes on as we win a Nat'l Championship without them next year!

TwistedFish31 11 years, 1 month ago

Do you all not see that hawks2010 is just a plant? He is either sitting there in his tight little mizzourah tiger underoos or maybe a memphis "2008 Runner Up" t-shirt and getting you all worked up. Ignore the little tiger and they will get bored and wander away like all little kids do.

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

irish2255 11 years, 1 month ago

Everyone knows Memphis has been talking to the Henry's. It's been in article and post all day. Good try on your "breaking" news.

iluvdbskxjayhawks 11 years, 1 month ago

If CJ comes to Kansas, he's not able to play as many minutes as he wants so I don't think the Henry boys will come to Kansas. Memphis seems to be a better situation for CJ. He'll have to sit out for a year if he wants to go play at another school. I think the boys going to Memphis seems more probable. THEY WANT TO PLAY TOGETHER!

FairgroveJayhawk 11 years, 1 month ago

Again, I'm not asking you to believe me, I'm simply sharing the information so everybody will not be shocked tomorrow.

suttonku - You will know I'm telling you the truth after the news conference tomorrow.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk !!!

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

well I just dont think that an ESPN affiliate would report something without a source close to the Henry's...I mean who cares about this anyways? lets just get it over with and move on...hawks2010 is right if we dont get Henry then lets get Lance...we shouldnt get all worked up...lets all just flip on the TV tomorrow at 230 and see what happens...I am sure that there will be articles out about it before the news conference anyways...dont you think that Memphis newspapers would be all over this by now? I mean they would be the first to know about a press conference tomorrow...and btw hawks is prolly wrong since the Henry's are already in Memphis because they met with the memphis officials today so why would they have to fly in from OKC if they are already there?

KUwishesItWasUK 11 years, 1 month ago

I hope these drama queens stay at Memphis. . . I am as big of a UK fan as there is. This is ridiculous. . . They have 2 of the all time greatest programs by the balls. CJ sucks and Xavier (pronounced Zaaaaaay veeeee yer, We aren't in Belgium) is one and done, U CAN KEEP THEM BOTH!

2010 that is contadicting to the Shiver, zagsblog and kentink which are all saying KU is the choice

jayhawkboogeyman 11 years, 1 month ago

It's either Kansas or Memphis. Zagsblog also reports that it is Kansas, although his source seems to be just the kentuckyink report. We should know by tomorrow, I hope. Carl insists that Memphis is out, but he also wants the boys to make their own choice. If it comes down to guaranteed playing together, it is Memphis. If it comes down to family tradition and Xavier finally doing what HE chooses, not big brother, then it is Kansas.

Zagsblog reported this @ 10:11 PM

A Kansas source said Tuesday they had not heard directly from the family, but a source very close to the situation said: “They’re going to end up going to Kansas.”

One thing is clear: Carl wants C.J. to pack his bags and leave Memphis after the year.

“That’s what I told him to do,” Carl said. It’s “either Kansas or Kentucky. They won’t stay at Memphis.”

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

ok look at kentucky ink now...the guy just said that his source reaffirmed him that it was 100% that the henry's are going to KU next year

TexasHawk, I assume you're joking, right? Surely you realize that I was joking, right? Your response seemed fairly snippy.

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

true i will give you that UK has a good history but what have you done lately? nothing...and do you really think Cal will bring UK back? I dont think so I think UK will be on Probation in 3 years because he will rack up recruiting violations

KUwishesItWasUK 11 years, 1 month ago

And that is based on what? The zero recruiting violations he has so far? Marcus Camby hired an agent in college and Calipari turned him in. That is what happend at UMass. If he can recruit fair (or with out getting caught) at UMass and Memphis who are nobody's compared to Kentucky, then what would make u think he wouldn't be able to do that at one of the top programs of all time?

That was something you heard someone else say, and thought it sounded good, so you repeated it. Try having your own opinons.

Tony Bandle 11 years, 1 month ago

Collins, Aldrich, Little, Marcus, Markieff, Robinson, Taylor, Johnson, Reed, Morningstar, Withey, Releford.......that is already a very, very, very strong twelve man rotation. This feeding frenzy on these high school kids who have not played one second of D1 ball is misplaced.

What do you think is gonna happen when X/Lancer/John drives the lane the first time on Condor...BOOM...... welcome to the big time kid!!!!

Maybe we should be thankful for the gentlemen we have and the young men that know and have committed to [or as in Mr. Robinson's case] are already passionate full-fledged Jayhawks.

I will not be surprised if no one shows up besides who we have now. And Coach Bill will be alright with that. It will hurt to lose the Henrys and Lance and Wall, but in the end, it will make this squad tougher

If someone actually commits, I will be thrilled but now I feel the glass is prettty damn full already and it's time to talk football!!!!!!!

Eric J. Baker 11 years, 1 month ago

@ KUWishesItWasUK: Interesting you bring up that most wins thing, I was actually just looking at the total wins for the top 3 basketball schools yesterday. Kentucky still leads with 1,988, but North Carolina has pulled to within 4, at 1,984. Unless Calipari pulls off a miracle next year, expect to lost that Winningest Division I Basketball Program title next season. Kansas is third with 1,970 wins, and I fully expect us to cut Kentucky's lead in half next season, and probably move into second on the all times win list after the 2010-2011 season. Also interesting, unless KU doesn't live up to its potential next season, all three schools should be surpassing the 2,000 win mark within a year. For anyone that's curious, Duke is 4th on the all time wins list with 1,876.

I would like to point out, though, that KU now has 52 conference titles. That's more than Kentucky. It's more than any other college basketball team. In fact, if I remember correctly from when we surpassed Kentucky's conference title record two years ago, it's the most division titles of any sports team ever.

Some other interesting tidbits, just from a bit of research. KU has had 6 coaches take us to the Final Four, out of 7 that possibly could (Naismith coached before there were such tournaments), which is more than any other school. We have also had 4 coaches inducted in the Naismith Hall of Fame, also more than any other school.

you mean this line?

Although there is some uncertainty surrounding this announcement, as I have yet to confirm it with the Henry family, my source just re-affirmed to me that it is '100 percent.'

because if you're talking about the whole memphis is is better shape stuff, that was soooo 5:45 pm...

and by the way, i appreciated you posting the kentuckystatisticalhistory link. it was fitting that it was a "HISTORY" link as kentucky hasn't seem to do much of anything other than firing coaches in the past 10 years. you have won a collection of four sec titles in 10 yrs... and in 2000, you shared it with 1/4 of the conference. while you are on a 4 yr drought of conference titles, we will be going after our 6th in a row. pretty telling considering a middle of the road b12 team such as baylor would have been an sec champ easy this past season. win and then come back... see ya a few coaches from now...

KUwishesItWasUK 11 years, 1 month ago

kufankam, I bet you don't have many friends, huh?

Eric J. Baker 11 years, 1 month ago

I'm sorry, my mistake, I'm a little embarassed. Those six coaches who took us to the Final Four were all six that could have. William Hamilton coached before national tournaments, too, in between Phog Allen's short and long stints. So, yeah, as long as a national tournament has been around, we've never failed to reach the final four under any of our coaches.

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

actually, just put my newborn son to bed and was just staying up to make sure he fell to sleep completely as well as watching the end of the utah/laker game.

you just struggling to come up with something to say? lol

i actually like kentucky. i love basketball traditions. especially one that was established by a jayhawk (rupp)...

i just find it funny that some of UK's fans come on a KU message board to stick their chest's out when the reality is this-the wildcats have been very irrelevant for the past decade. i just pray there are not KU fans going on other schools websites to do the same.... unfortunately, there probably are. it just looks pathetic and desperate. i am a KU FANatic. i don't see the need to hate on other schools. i am quite happy just cheering for mine.

Eric J. Baker 11 years, 1 month ago

Actually, we've had five different coaches take us to the national championship game, too. Dick Harp was our only coach that didn't, although he made two Final Fours in only either years.

Eric J. Baker 11 years, 1 month ago

Not dick Harp, Ted Owens.. I got them mixed up. I'm tired.

KUwishesItWasUK 11 years, 1 month ago

I'm just on here having fun and trying to get the latest on the Henry's. . .

KUwishesItWasUK 11 years, 1 month ago

Hell you all change conferences every 10 or 15 years, it's about time for another change isn't it? I'm sure it was hard to win a conference title in the "Big 6" That just sounds difficult. Then you upgraded to the big 7, and followed that with the big 8, tough competition. Oh and by the way what happend from 1952 to 1988? No national championships, thats what. Or how bout 1988 to 2008? another 20 year slump. Thats all we count at Kentucky, (Ignore previous posts when I asked about wins, and tourney wins). . . Championships baby, Championships...

you are missing the point... i don't go to other teams site's to bash their team. i was simply responding to your presence here (this is a KU website and i am a KU fan). i would never go try to boast on another schools website about how great KU was is and always will be... there is no need for that because all they would have to do is look at the top 10 year in and year out and they know. when/if UK gets back to that level, you will realize that your program's success will speak for itself. until then, i guess we can put up with your attempts to cover up what an irrelevant program UK is becoming.

it is obvious some UK fan's (loosely used term) feel threatened by our stature as one of the premier programs above UK.

suttonku 11 years, 1 month ago

UK fans are lame...this guy wants to talk about a slump...umm what about UK's current slump? and championships? Tubby Smith was your last championship and that was a while ago...and other then basketball what is UK good nope I mean maybe baseball but not least at KU we have a good football program, a very good basketball program, a rising baseball program, and an on the rise womens basketball program

kufankam 11 years, 1 month ago

UK championships without a KU alum as coach.... 3

championships, baby, championships!!

and speaking of slumps? how about your final four appearances lately? we have survived an entire two terms and (then some) of Bush in office since you last made it to a final four... more than that, you have only made it to two elite eights in the same time... lol! like i have said, irrelevant!

hydrohawk 11 years, 1 month ago

I am only going to say this one more time. X became a Jayhawk on March 30 when Cal left Memphis. Self would NEVER have let Lance not commit unless X was a 100% AIR TIGHT LOCK, not leaning toward KU 99%, not favoring, only if X was a NO DOUBT COMMIT. We are talking about HCBS, the best in the business! This has been a no-brainer from jump. Everyone has debated for weeks over a non issue.

The Bottom line : A) X said he wants to play with his brother B) X said he's OAD So, If A and B, Then they stay at Memphis. Simple logic !!

Lance, Come on down !!!!

Tribehawk 11 years, 1 month ago

My theory is that the brothers are watching this kusports thread. They are waiting for us to post 1000 comments before they commit. Whenever things start to slow down, X, CJ, or Carl stirs the pot with some "breaking news." If X actually gets on a plane on Friday for KY, we'll get a twitter message mid-flight that says the plane had to turn around and make an emergency landing because it was full of monkey-fighting snakes.

So let's all keep posting! 1000 is in sight!

Rick Arnoldy 11 years, 1 month ago

What ironic is that what’s best for KU is for the Henry brothers to stay at Memphis. It’s addition by subtraction.

Memphis is a benign program on the way down and won’t be a threat in the future even if they stay there. It keeps them out of UK’s hands and denies Calipari a cornerstone for rebuilding the Wildcat program. KU ends up with Stephenson, a quality player who stays more than one year.

It’s a win-win-win situation if the Henrys stay at Memphis.

jaybate 11 years, 1 month ago

jaybate news service:

Calipari to join staff at KU as Assistant Head Coach in Charge of Recruiting. Will bring entire UK and Memphis teams to KU, plus all recruits of both schools. KU will redshirt almost 20 players this year. Alas, X and CJ still cannot make up their minds about where they are going to school.

Brady Swenson 11 years, 1 month ago

Sources: Xavier Henry, brother pick Kansas by Jeff Goodman

Xavier Henry and his older brother, C.J., are picking Kansas over John Calipari and Kentucky, according to multiple sources close to the situation.

Xavier Henry, one of the top players in the senior class and a former Memphis signee, and his brother - a former New York Yankees first-round pick who didn't play last season at Memphis due to injury - have informed Calipari that they will be attending Kansas.

"It's done," said one source. "He and C.J. told everyone last night."

Both Kansas coach Bill Self and Calipari met with the duo in New York this past weekend while Xavier was in town for the Jordan Brand

It looks definite that X and CJ are coming. The UK tasteless are playing games. If we ignore those negative posts that are contrary to reliable sites, they'll go away and sulk in their mediocre season.
I really wanted Lance when this all started, but KU can be happy with either. X and CJ finally realized where the NC will hang for 2010 !!

Rock Chalk

Andrew Moore 11 years, 1 month ago

Gotta love X and CJ going to play where their mom and dad played. Carl will be so proud, and he'll get to relive his old highlihgts.

With nearly the entire team back next season (losses: Appleton, Q, Buford, Kleinman) , along with Xavier, Elijah, and Withey coming in, we will be incredibly deep. Just think about the normal jump a player makes between freshmen and sophomore years. Our depth really sinks in when you try to think about who'll start, who is first off the bench. Etc. Here is a projected/estimated depth chart:

Collins, Taylor, Reed Morningstar, Elijah, CJ Xavier, Little, Releford Mc Morris, Robinson Aldrich, Mk Morris, Withey

Not a single weak link on this team. We could be amazing. I just hope tomorrow isn't a huge let down. I don't think it will be though. National Champs 2010! (hopefully)

KUwishesItWasUK another idiot.... UK worst beatin in history handed to them by KU 150- 95. KU does not jump conferences.. other schools always want in so conference grows. SEC hard time getting a school in tourney, BIG 12 had hmmmm 4 or 5 in sweet 16... UK would be third tier in big 12. KU , Texas, Oklahoma, MU , KSU , Tech, OSU .. heck even Nebraska would pound kentucky. They get caught cheating so much no other conference would want them . Face it Calapri will be caught in another recruiting mess , like U Mass.. UK back to the basement. KU yet again goes to Another Final Four and UK goes NIT. sad UK fans so much want to be KU they hire KU players and managers , Adolf Rupp played for KU not UK. Calapari first job KU not UK. UK second team in Kentucky, Louisville would pound them.

Your brain looks like a beebee rolling down a four lane highway.

Your gametes have been studied under an electron microscope and were too small to be measured.

Your posting game is separated from reality by your sphincter.

At birth, you were cruelly cheated out of everything but your medulla.

Your writing is positively sucktatious.

Now do you see how ridiculous you sound.

Grow up little big boy.

You have exactly zero authority and negative cred here.

What fraternity in Lexington are you lurking from?

Get a grip..

Kentucky is the winningest basketball program in college. Show the university some deserved respect. Just because a couple of idiots come onto our webpage doesn't mean every Kentucky fan is an idiot.

As far as Jaybate goes, you obviously don't read or post on this site often. Otherwise, you'd know Jaybate was a KU fan and a huge Bill Self fan.
