Bears will win, but how many points will they score?

By Staff     Oct 9, 2015

Surely, you’re aware Kansas football faces No. 3 Baylor Saturday at Memorial Stadium. And, surely, you realize the Bears are going to win.

That’s why we didn’t include the KU-Baylor game in this week’s edition of Pick Six. No way the Bears lose. So why ask people to predict the outcome? Well, KU’s omission did catch Tom Keegan, Matt Tait and Scott Stanford off guard. So, for the remainder of the season, we will include Kansas games among our six from which to pick winners. (Even though choosing KU’s opponent will be a freebie almost every week.)

With that said, how many points do you think Baylor puts up? 60? 70? 80?? Let us know in the comments section below.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK
——————–

**Fantasy sports sites DraftKings and FanDuel reportedly are being investigated by the New York attorney general. What’s your most regrettable fantasy sports-related gaffe?**

Last week: 5-1 | Season: 23-7

> I’m doing well (4-0 and 3-1) in two of
> my three fantasy football leagues
> right now, but I’m 0-4 in the other.
> Marshawn Lynch is a big reason why I’m
> winless in that league. I drafted
> Lynch with the No. 2 overall pick
> after Le’Veon Bell went at No. 1,
> since I was skeptical how Adrian
> Peterson would return after a year
> off. Ben Roethlisberger getting hurt
> hasn’t helped, and neither has Justin
> Forsett, TY Hilton and Demaryius
> Thomas having an overall subpar first
> four games to their standards. But
> Beast Mode looking more like Least
> Mode when he’s been healthy enough to
> play behind Seattle’s spotty offensive
> line is proving to be a disappointing
> first-round pick.

Last week: 5-1 | Season: 23-7

> Drafting Johnny Manziel in 2014.

Last week: 5-1 | Season: 23-7

> I set the alarm clock for 2:58 a.m.,
> woke up my wife, and did so to claim
> Reuben Droughns at the earliest
> possible moment. He didn’t do as well
> after I claimed him.

Last week: 5-1 | Season: 23-7

> Not winning the millions of dollars
> the TV ads are trumpeting.

Last week: 6-0 | Season: 22-8

> Well, I’m not proud of it but I once
> spent an entire fantasy football
> offseason talking up former Bengals QB
> Jeff Blake so a buddy of mine would
> draft him in the first round leaving
> Detroit QB Scott Mitchell for me to
> pick. Pretty sure neither one of us
> won it that year.

Last week: 5-1 | Season: 22-8

> My biggest gaffe is agreeing to enter
> former J-W staffer Ryan Greene’s
> baseball fantasy league every year.
> The league is full of fantasy geniuses
> like ex-JW staffer Rob Sinclair and
> it’s like I’m taking a 20 dollar bill
> (monopoly money of course) and
> flushing it down the toilet. I have
> absolutely no chance. I’ve tied for
> first in several fantasy leagues, only
> to lose the tiebreaker. This year I
> finally won a baseball title!! But it
> wasn’t Ryan Greene’s league. Too tough
> of competition. Those scoundrels are
> too smart for me!

Last week: 5-1 | Season: 21-9

> My only fantasy-sports gaffe is that I
> did not more thoroughly vet the
> character of my competitors. Who knew
> they could all be such an
> unscrupulous, lying, no-good, cheating
> bunch of cheaters?

Last week: 5-1 | Season: 21-9

> Never made one.

Last week: 4-2 | Season: 18-12

> Back in 2004 when UConn won the NCAA
> Tournament, I was set to win around
> $300 from a March Madness bracket
> pool. To me as a 7th grader, that was
> essentially the same as thousands of
> dollars. I was tied in the standings
> with one other person and the
> tiebreaker was margin of victory in
> the title game. With Ben Gordon and
> Emeka Okafor I had full confidence in
> the Huskies before the tournament, so
> I picked them to win by 14 points and
> the other guy had them by 7. UConn was
> up by 14 points with 2 minutes left,
> but made dumb plays with backups and
> only won by 9, making me settle for
> 2nd place and a much smaller pot of
> the prize money.

Last week: 6-0 | Season: 17-13

> I’d say every season includes at least
> one regrettable draft pick or early
> cut, if not more. I remember before
> the 2014-15 NBA season I was pretty
> high on new Charlotte Hornet Lance
> Stephenson. The Hornets needed a
> scorer, and boy does Stephenson like
> taking shots. Well, the guy who
> infamously blew in LeBron James’ ear
> during a playoff game, kept on blowing
> (shot attempts) in Charlotte. I
> couldn’t even make this up if I tried:
> Stephenson made 18 of 501
> three-pointers last year. At 17.1%, he
> set a new NBA record for worst
> three-point shooting in a season
> (minimum 100 attempts). I picked him
> in the 5th round.
