**1 – Perry Ellis:** Biggest reason Kansas took 18-point lead into halftime, vanished for much of the second half, and came through with big plays down the stretch, the biggest a drive to the hoop that broke a tie with 2:01 left and stood up as the winning shot. Had 14 points, six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal, but had four turnovers. When player of the game Delon Wright attempted a three-point shot with 2:11 left and the game tied, Ellis guarded him so closely he blocked Wright’s shot.
**2 – Jamari Traylor:** Made a pair of free throws with 39 seconds left to give KU a four-point lead. Played solid defense, totaled 13 points and five rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal.
**3 – Frank Mason III:** Has a knack for hitting jumpers and producing steals at crucial times of the game. He’ll also make a turnover here and there in those situations as well, but he’s a guy you want on your side when outcomes hang in the balance. Had 10 points and five assists, a blocked shot and two steals. Also committed three turnovers.
**4 – Kelly Oubre Jr.:** Strong defender who uses long wingspan to deflect passes, tie up dribblers and grab boards. Oubre made major contribution for the second game in a row, with nine points and four rebounds. Made all four free-throw attempts, growing his season percentage from the line to 85.7.
**5 – Brannen Greene:** Went 4 for 4 from the line in final 20 seconds and blocked Utah’s final shot, which would have tied the game had Jakob Poeltl’s three-pointer gone in.
**6 – Wayne Selden Jr.**: Was the recipient on a lob coming out of timeout and instead of laying it in went for a one-handed dunk that popped out and flipped his coach’s lid. Did decent job of running team when Mason took quick breaks. Had eight points, two assists and two turnovers and didn’t pick up a rebound.
**7 – Cliff Alexander:** Took just two shots from the field and one was blocked by the backboard. It was that sort of a day for Alexander (one point, six rebounds).
**8 – Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk:** Limited to 10 minutes off the bench, scored only bucket on nice drive to hoop and didn’t pick up an assist or rebound.
**9 – Landen Lucas:** Played seven minutes, missed two shots and had two turnovers.
