**1. Perry Ellis:** Rudyard Kipling’s poem “If” came to mind during the late-game collapse: “If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs …” Ellis was a calming voice of reason, surrounded by madness. And even he had two turnovers and a foul during UTEP’s 18-7 stretch that started with 1:59 left and ended with seven seconds left as a 14-point lead dwindled to three points. Ellis led KU with 19 points, had seven rebounds and made 7 of 8 free throws.
**2. Joel Embiid:** Established himself as leading candidate to be chosen with No. 1 pick in 2014 NBA draft. Was nothing short of spectacular in Bahamas in variety of ways. He passed, rebounded, scored and blocked shots in a way that left the tongues of scouts hanging. Had nine points, six rebounds, seven blocked shots, two steals and an assist in 21 minutes in this one. Three-game Battle 4 Atlantis totals: 48 minutes, 29 points, 17 rebounds, 10 blocked shots, 13 personal fouls, .632 from the field, .714 from the line.
**3. Wayne Selden:** Scored eight of teams first 10 points and finished with 14 points, six rebounds and six turnovers. One-handed follow jam raised the roof.
**4. Naadir Tharpe:** Made 2 of 5 three-pointers and contributed 11 points and four assists. Still could do better job penetrating or keeping the ball moving with a pass to create scoring opportunities for others. Making that change will require making others’ shots a priority over his own.
**5. Jamari Traylor:** Hustle resulted in two offensive rebounds and he made 4 of 4 free throws in eight-minute stint.
**6. Andrew Wiggins**: Strong defense kept him on floor for 34 minutes. Totaled six points, seven rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot.
**7. Tarik Black:** Pulled down five rebounds in 11 scoreless minutes. Whistled for just one foul.
**8. Frank Mason:** Nobody played better than he did in the first two games, nobody worse in the third. Committed two fouls in final 24 seconds when KU was trying to protect a six-point lead. Almost committed another one on final possession. Lost his head, playing with no awareness of time and score. Misfired on all four three-pointers, making him 2 of 14 on season. Did way more good things than bad during tourney.
**9. Andrew White III:** Never got into a rhythm and had nothing to show for four scoreless minutes but a missed three-pointer and a foul.
**10. Conner Frankamp:** Missed two shots and committed a foul in five minutes.
**11. Landen Lucas:** Picked up one rebound, one foul in six minutes.
