Marcus Morris, Elijah Johnson best Jayhawks against Oklahoma State

1. Marcus Morris: Looked extremely explosive at both ends and scored 17 of his team-high 27 points in the first half. His greatest moment of the half, an on-the-ball blocked shot, will be replayed in every video highlight of him from now on.

2. Elijah Johnson: Didn’t try to hit home runs and didn’t hang his head when he messed up, once turning it over after getting trapped and another time throwing an interception when he tried to feed the post from a terrible angle. He showed he’s a better shooter than the man he replaced, Tyshawn Taylor.

3. Markieff Morris: Contributed 15 points and seven rebounds in 21 minutes. Had trouble containing Marshall Moses, but so do a lot of defenders.

4. Tyrel Reed: Plays like a senior night in and night out. Had eight points, five assists, two steals and no turnovers.

5. Thomas Robinson: Just 10 days after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, KU’s bionic man hustled his way to six points and six rebounds in 10 minutes. That’s a tribute to two marvels: Modern medicine and Robinson’s fitness.

6. Mario Little: Hit the boards hard again, finishing with 10 to go with seven points, two coming on a sweet lefty hook shot delivered as he swept across the lane.

7. Josh Selby: Rushed a bad shot early and still isn’t shooting a high percentage, but did some good things as well, driving hard to the hoop and making some nice entry passes.

8. Brady Morningstar: Didn’t score a field goal, but defended well and had three assists without a turnover.

9. Travis Releford: Had three points, a rebound and an assist and didn’t turn it over in 14 minutes.

10. Jeff Withey: Looked good scoring his only bucket in five minutes.

11. Royce Woolridge: Played two minutes and his only stat was a turnover.

The person who deserves the highest rating was the brunette in the red t-shirt sitting behind Bobby Knight.

Alohahawk 11 years, 3 months ago

Actually, there were two ladies sitting side by side behind Mr. Knight. I believe your attention was drawn to the "lady in red" because she had brighter headlights than the other. :-?

LMAO! Last night might have been the first game I don't remember any of Bobby's analysis. And I kept wondering if he would turn around and sneak a peek. The camera man must have been dying.

Marcus looked fantastic tonight, and certainly props to EJ for coming out to play. Nice work.

The Assist to Turnover Brady-o-Meter is now 7.4 in conference play.

Well said, oxcal. She certainly got my "attention."

And that stat about Brady is Guiness Book stuff, truly amazing.

Scoring the most points shouldn't always be the No. 1 contributing factor in placing first in these ratings. Elijah's performance last night was spectacular and he should have ben No. 1 here. Mc Morris had a good game, but for him it was business as usual. Elijah was given a chance to show what he had and he made the most of it. He should hae been ranked No. 1 ahead of MM.

That kind of thinking – corrupting the ratings because it feels good – causes a lot of the problems we see with this team. Keegan had it exactly right, which is more of a tribute to Elijah's play than a hokey #1 would have been.

I disagree. I feel the ratings should be based on how well a player plays within himself or beyond himself. Eiljah played beyond his previous outings. MM played well, but he's played better in previous games. This was arguably Elijah's best game since he's been at KU. He should have been rated No. 1.

I like your idea. You should start your own ratings. Seriously, I agree. He would be at the top of your ratings this week. And TRob probably second for his "He Man" comeback. Finish this list out.

But for Keegan's ratings, he was placed about right.

27% of the teams rebounds and zero fouls for Little.

Not saying he needs to be higher. TRob and Tyrel punched the clock too. But the 10 boards and no fouls thing just stood out, especially considering he was having a little trouble with dumb fouls.

You men are........well......boys. Yes,even being a female, I saw her too..Indeed she was pretty. Not only are fans spoiled with a college full of pretty ladies but also with the best basketball teams year after year. I think it is now time to come together as fans and leave the past behind. What has been done is over and what has been won has been won. Words can be very hurtful to our players. If you do not think they (the players) read these posts, you would be very wrong. No one murdered anyone. I for one would like to see more positive posts on all the threads. Players are allowed to have off nights where they do not play up to their potential. Congrats to all our team who work so hard daily in practice and school to even keep their grades up to even sit on the bench. As you know, most of these players will never make the NBA. They do have the privlege of saying they were part of the best college basketball program in the world IMHO. Congrats Jayhawks.

Uh... nobody said she was pretty. : O

Keegan I always enjoy your ratings, these would be mine..........

  1. Elijah Johnson - had a career night what more can you say
  2. Marcus Morris - no elbows tonight, did his talking with "points on the board"
  3. Markief Morris - showed sheer will power and strength against two thugs, Moses and Pilgrim
  4. Mario Little - had the most energy on the team, with his rebounding and scoring, even took an elbow to the mouth and just walked away from it
  5. Thomas Robinson - played one week since surgery on the knee, played with a determined look on his face, totally unstoppable 6.Tyrel Reed - always in the right place at the right time, the glue man
  6. Josh Selby - shook off some rust, looked a little uncertain and timid at times, need more work
  7. Brady Morningstar - took the night off, which was ok as we didn't need another scoring threat with Elijah playing, (see no. 1)
  8. Rest of the team

oljhwk, I completely agree with your ratings, mine would be the exact same. Elijah takes the top spot with a nice defensive effort, spot on shooting, and great hustle. Not to mention the surprise start
