**1. Justin Springer:** One rugged football player, Springer made a huge stop on third and 1 and showed great strength doing so.
**2. Daymond Patterson:** He’s going to be touching the football a ton this year and has break-away potential on every play. Caught four passes for 66 yards and rushed three times for 63 yards with a long gain of 51 yards.
**3. Steven Johnson:** His lively performance included team-best nine tackles, one for a loss.
**4. Chris Harris:** Had a huge 11-yard sack on a cornerback blitz and did a strong job in coverage.
**5. D.J. Beshears:** Averaged 42 yards on two kick returns and gained 14 yards on three rushes. Quick, quick, quick.
**6. Keeston Terry:** For a guy who switched to defense just weeks ago, Terry stood out in reserve and has the look of a future all-conference safety. Picked up four tackles, one for a loss. He’s an exciting talent.
**7. Isiah Barfield:** Big interception in the end zone, but then took the luster off that big play by trying to return it and getting tackled at the 1.
**8. Richard Johnson:** Defensive tackle got more penetration than in past years and was credited with four tackles, 1.5 for a loss.
**9. Olaitan Oguntodu:** Had five tackles and generally seemed to be in the right place at the right time.
**10. Jake Laptad:** Relatively quiet night against an offensive line that paid special attention to him, but he still managed two quarterback hurries.
