1. Marcus Morris: Was outstanding for the second game in a row, contributing 20 points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes.
2. Cole Aldrich: Had 14 points, seven boards and three blocked shots.
3. Brady Morningstar: Finished the break he led with a spectacular no-look pass that resulted in a bucket, but even that and eight points, four assists, six rebounds and two steals won’t convince the Brady-bashers he can play. They’ll belabor his three turnovers.
4. Sherron Collins: Even when his shot’s not dropping he does a nice job of making sure his team plays at a fast pace.
5. Xavier Henry: Still struggling to score inside the three-point line. Had a sensational follow jam but needs to hit the offensive boards on a more consistent basis. Made just 4 of 11 shots and scored 14 points.
6. Tyrel Reed: Played strong defense, had three steals and scored five points in 20 minutes.
7. Markieff Morris: Not many teams have a reserve post player who can blend as much rebounding, shot-blocking ability as Morris, who contributed seven points, three rebounds, two blocked shots and one steal.
8. Thomas Robinson: Still needs to calm down offensively, as evidenced by four turnovers in 11 minutes. He sure hits the boards hard, picking up five to go with four points and a blocked shot.
9. Elijah Johnson: Skied for a spectacular dunk over a defender, then apologized for it afterward because it came on the final possession when the right play is to dribble out the clock. Coach Bill Self said it wasn’t his fault, that Self should have reminded them from the bench. The more you see Johnson play and listen to him talk, the more you like what sort of player he’ll develop into for Kansas.
10. Tyshawn Taylor: Benched for a 17-minute stretch at the end of the first half and beginning of the second. Needs to know precisely what he’s going to do with the ball before leaving his feet. Made poor passes and poor decisions that cost team several points in the first half.
11. Jeff Withey: Made both free throws after missing a dunk while getting fouled. Picked up a rebound and a blocked shot.
12. C.J. Henry: It’s not often a three-point shot gets blocked, but Henry’s did from the left corner. Did dish for a nice assist.
