After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the hardwood equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawk scholarship players’ individual performances, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel. (Scoring: Each week, the top player in the ratings will be awarded 10 points. Second best gets nine points. Third best gets eight points, and so on and so on. The season standings are at the bottom.)
1. Sherron Collins: Scored 15 of his 18 points in the first half, when most of the rest of the team was struggling.
2. Cole Aldrich: Most of his 15 points came late. He made all six shots from the field and led the team with 10 rebounds.
3. Tyrel Reed: Heated up in the second half and finished with 11 points. Made 3 of 5 three-point shots.
4. Marcus Morris: Other than the three turnovers, played an encouraging game. Made 4 of 5 shots from the field and finished with 10 points.
5. Tyshawn Taylor: Had four turnovers, but made 6 of 7 field goal attempts, turning it on late in the game.
6. Brady Morningstar: Had eight rebounds and four turnovers, both atypical figures for the sophomore.
7. Markieff Morris: Had two assists and five rebounds.
8. Mario Little: Started, played eight scoreless minutes with one rebound.
9. Tyrone Appleton: Played one minute.
10. Travis Releford: Had three personals and two turnovers in five minutes, not easy to do.
