After each KU football game this season, this is where you can find out the gridiron equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Top 10 Jayhawk individual performances, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch.
1. Dezmon Briscoe: Caught 14 passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Can you say preseason All-American?
2. Todd Reesing: At one point completed a Kansas school-record 14 passes in a row and completed 27 of 35 passes for 313 yards and four touchdowns. He did it against heavy blitzing.
3. Kerry Meier: Caught a touchdown pass, threw a touchdown pass and made some very difficult catches on his way to a 10-reception, 113-yard day.
4. James Holt: Showed why he was a first-team All-Big 12 performer with three sacks.
5. Mike Rivera: Tied career high with 14 tackles.
6. Joe Mortensen: Tied career high with 13 tackles.
7. Jake Sharp: Gained 64 yards on 16 carries and dove over the top for a touchdown.
8. Alonso Rojas: Averaged 47.5 yards on his four punts and pinned two of them inside the 20, including one inside the 1.
9. Daymond Patterson: Was all over the Minnesota receivers.
10. Tim Biere: As always had a solid blocking game and caught one pass.
