Rush sensational again

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the hardwood equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawk scholarship players’ individual performances, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel. (**Scoring**: Each week, the top player in the ratings will be awarded 10 points. Second best gets nine points. Third best gets eight points, and so on and so on. The season standings are at the bottom)_**1. Brandon Rush**: A basketball player coming off a knee injury can be like a pitcher rebounding from arm surgery. Sometimes the explosiveness is there and sometimes it isn’t. It comes and goes within a game and the longer away from surgery the more consistently it comes. What Rush lacks in explosiveness he compensates for with skills and basketball smarts. Even when it doesn’t fall, his jumper looks great.**2. Rod Stewart**: How can we word this gently? Here goes: He never should attempt another 3-point shot for as long as he lives. Other than that, he’s been the season’s most pleasant surprise. The hard-driving, athletic, high-energy senior is a terrific passer. He had eight assists without turning it over once.**3. Darnell Jackson**: Has bumped Sasha Kaun from the starting lineup and has been the team’s most productive big man. Made another 3-pointer and finished with 13 points in 22 minutes.**4. Jeremy Case**: In 15 minutes he scored seven points, had six assists and three rebounds and did not have a turnover. Is getting more aggressive all the time.**5. Mario Chalmers**: Needs to do a better job of feeding the post, but had a terrific shooting night, scoring 11 points from the field on five field goal attempts.**6. Sasha Kaun**: Seven points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes off the bench. The reserve role might suit him better.**7. Cole Aldrich**: Blocked two shots, had three steals and grabbed five rebounds in 15 minutes. Looked particularly athletic nimbly crashing the boards for a first-half put-back. Has to watch his fouls. **8. Darrell Arthur**: Had two rebounds in seven minutes against an undersized, overmatched FAU team.**9. Russell Robinson**: Didn’t shoot well, but did contribute five rebounds.**The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (based on average points)** **1.** Brandon Rush **8.00** (32 points, 4 games) **2.** Darnell Jackson **7.50** (45 points, 6 games) **3.** Sherron Collins **7.00** (14 points, 2 games) **4.** Rod Stewart **6.83** (41 points, 6 games) **5.** Darrell Arthur **6.00** (36 point, 6 games) **6.** Mario Chalmers **6.17** (37 points, 6 games) **7.** Tyrel Reed **4.60** (23 points, 5 games) **8.** Russell Robinson **4.50** (27 points, 6 games) **9.** Sasha Kaun **4.33** (26 points, 6 games) **10** Cole Aldrich **3.83** (23 points, 6 games) **11.** Jeremy Case **2.67** (16 points, 6 games)
