The Keegan Ratings: Rush goes rim-less

By Staff     Mar 19, 2007

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the basketball equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawks’ individual performances from top to bottom, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch and who has seen better days. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel._**1. Brandon Rush**: Runs and runs and runs and never gets tired. Played 36 minutes and still had fresh enough legs to make six of seven three-point shots.**2. Mario Chalmers**: Has made 16 of his last 26 three-point shots and is shooting .413 on the season. Chalmers had 16 points, eight assists and four steals. He hit one three-pointer with a defender in his face and the shot clock on the verge of expiring. Tends to play well in big games.**3. Julian Wright**: Had some trouble checking Bobby Perry, but did another terrific job on the boards and contorting his body to score inside. Finished with 21 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. **4. Russell Robinson**: Has 22 assists and four turnovers in the past five games. He symbolizes the strength of the team at both ends of the floor in these ways: He applies intense pressure defensively yet seldom finds himself out of position. Offensively, he plays at a high speed, yet is not sloppy.**5. Sherron Collins**: Played a big role in getting the game moving at the pace Kansas wanted, which was fast, fast, fast.**6. Darnell Jackson**: Played 11 minutes and still managed to finish second to Wright in rebounds with four. His hustle energizes the team.**7. Sasha Kaun**: Had the most exciting play of his career, coming from out of nowhere for a beautiful blocked shot that didn’t go down in the books as such because he was whistled for a foul. Missed easy shots though.**8. Darrell Arthur**: Whistled for two quick fouls, which limited him to two first half minutes and nine minutes for the game.**9. Rodrick Stewart**: Picked up an offensive rebound in one minute.**10. Jeremy Case**: Barely got in. If the time comes when KU needs to turn to him in a tight ballgame, Case has shown enough there is reason to believe he will get it done. Has made five of his last eight three-point shots.**11. Brady Morningstar**: Rim still shaking from the one-hander he threw down against Niagara.**12. Matt Kleinmann**: The redhead didn’t play long enough to show off his hook shot.**The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (total points and average rank)** **T-1**. Julian Wright (124, 36 games) 3.44 **T-1**. Brandon Rush (124, 36 games) 3.44 (**_Jumps to tie for 1st_**) **3**. Mario Chalmers (125, 36 games) 3.47 **4**.
