The Keegan Ratings: Sherron a sixth wonder

By Staff     Feb 20, 2007

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the basketball equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawks’ individual performances from top to bottom, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch and who has seen better days. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel._**1. Sherron Collins**: Tie game, 11 minutes, 14 seconds remaining. Collins scored 12 of his 20 points in the next eight minutes and KU was on top by 10. His blow-by ability ranks among the best in the nation and he’s an outstanding finisher. His toughness, aggressiveness and bold confidence have changed this team, which didn’t have enough of any of the above until he took over the team from his sixth-man role.**2. Darrell Arthur**: He ripped an offensive rebound away from muscular K-State forward David Hoskins and put it in for a bucket, a play that symbolized his night. He was far more aggressive than usual.**3. Mario Chalmers**: He kept KU in it in the first half with hot shooting that gave him 12 of his 17 points. He cooled late, but it didn’t matter.**4. Julian Wright**: He had a strong defensive game and had six rebounds, but never could get into the flow offensively and committed three turnovers.**5. Brandon Rush**: Picked up his third foul with three minutes left in the first half, which sapped him of some aggressiveness. Didn’t have his three-point shot working (0-for-5), but did manage to finish with 11 points.**6. Russell Robinson**: Foul trouble and shooting woes kept him from his typical steady performance. **7. Sasha Kaun**: Quite night offensively and on the boards (three points, four rebounds), but did a nice job of clogging the middle on defense.**8. Darnell Jackson**: Scoreless in 11 minutes, he did pick up three rebounds and a blocked shot.**9. Rodrick Stewart**: Scrappy on the boards, but no shooter is he. Missed his only attempt and it was from the free throw line.**10. Jermey Case**: If you blinked, you missed it. Don’t feel bad. You weren’t alone.**The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (total points and average rank)** **1.** Brandon Rush (92, 28 games) 3.29 **2.** Julian Wright (100, 28 games) 3.57 **3.** Mario Chalmers (107, 28 games) 3.82 **4.** Sherron Collins (119, 28 games) 4.25 **5.** Darrell Arthur (130, 28 games) 4.64 (**_Jumps Robinson for 5th_**) **6.** Russell Robinson (133, 28 games) 4.75 **7.** Sasha Kaun (147, 25 games) 5.88 **8.** Darnell Jackson (170, 28 games) 6.07 **9.** Rodrick Stewart (204, 22 games) 9.27 **10.** Jeremy Case (151, 16 games) 9.44 **11.** Brady Morningstar (114, 12 games) 9.50 **12.** Matt Kleinmann (143, 13 games) 11.00 **13.** Brennan Bechard (112, 9 games) 12.44 **14.** Brad Witherspoon (107, 8 games) 13.38
