The Keegan Ratings: Julian jolts Jayhawks

By Staff     Feb 11, 2007

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the basketball equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawks’ individual performances from top to bottom, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch and who has seen better days. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel._**1. Julian Wright**: He scored 33 points, and that wasn’t even his most remarkable statistic. Wright, who wasn’t trying to be fancy on this terrific afternoon, had eight offensive rebounds.**2. Brandon Rush**: It’s not often a player attempts 10 field goals and scores 21 points. He made all three three-point field goal attempts and contributed seven rebounds.**3. Sherron Collins**: The Kansas offense is on play when Collins watches from the bench and it’s on fast-forward when he’s in the game. What a point guard.**4. Darnell Jackson**: In the past two games, Jackson has played 37 minutes, producing 23 points and 16 rebounds. Not bad considering he’s battling back troubles.**5. Russell Robinson**: This wasn’t his typically solid performance at either end of the floor.**6. Mario Chalmers**: He shot 1-for-8, and in Big 12 play is hitting 41 percent of his field goal attempts and just 33 percent of his three-pointers.**7. Darrell Arthur**: He had three steals and four fouls in 12 minutes. This would be a far preferable line: No steals and two fouls in 28 minutes. He’s too valuable offensively to continue trying to do too much defensively because when he does that, he gets into foul trouble and must take a seat. **8. Sasha Kaun**: He failed to convert a lob and missed two other easy shots. He was scoreless and didn’t have his best game defensively, which explains why he was limited to eight minutes – time enough to pick up three fouls.**The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (total points and average rank)** **1.** Brandon Rush (80, 25 games) 3.20 **2.** Julian Wright (92, 25 games) 3.68 (_**Jumps Chalmers for second**_) **3.** Mario Chalmers (93, 25 games) 3.72 **4.** Sherron Collins (107, 25 games) 4.28 **5.** Darrell Arthur (119, 25 games) 4.76 **6.** Russell Robinson (120, 25 games) 4.80 **7.** Sasha Kaun (129, 22 games) 5.86 **8.** Darnell Jackson (150, 25 games) 6.00 **9.** Rodrick Stewart (176, 19 games) 9.26 **10.** Brady Morningstar (104, 11 games) 9.45 **11.** Jeremy Case (123, 13 games) 9.46 **12.** Matt Kleinmann (120, 11 games) 10.91 **13.** Brennan Bechard (103, 8 games) 12.88 **14.** Brad Witherspoon (94, 7 games) 13.43
