Mario nearly makes history

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the hardwood equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawk **scholarship players’ individual performances**, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel. (**Scoring**: Each week, the top player in the ratings will be awarded 10 points. Second best gets nine points. Third best gets eight points, and so on and so on. The season standings are at the bottom)_**1. Mario Chalmers**: This is not a stat line often seen: 12 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, seven steals. He was sensational.**2. Russell Robinson**: With Brandon Rush still on his way back to his old self, KU needed a lock-down defender. Consistent with his role of giving the team whatever it needs, Robinson has become that. This time, it was Draelon Burns he locked down, holding him scoreless in the first half.**3. Sasha Kaun**: Started lousy, went back to the bench, and was a new man when he re-entered the game. Finished with 15 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots in 15 minutes.**4. Darnell Jackson**: Another strong effort from the consistent force who has been the team’s best inside player all season. Had eight points and eight rebounds.**5. Cole Aldrich**: Has a number of different ways to score, including a short bank shot that begs the question: Has he watched Bill Walton’s game against Memphis repeatedly on ESPN Classic Sports?**6. Darrell Arthur**: Is doing a better job of posting up and taking shots closer to the basket and is looking to block shots, but still doesn’t rebound well. Played 22 minutes and did not have a single board.**7. Brandon Rush**: Shots weren’t dropping but he still managed 13 points in 29 minutes.**8. Sherron Collins**: Returned from injury and shot well, making 2 of 3 3-pointers, but didn’t have his normal explosive first step. **9. Rod Stewart**: Minutes will steadily decline, but not because of anything he is or isn’t doing. He continues to be a positive presence whose playing time during the time missed by Collins and Rush will become valuable when he’s needed for long stretches because of foul trouble late in the season.**10. Jeremy Case**: His lone 3-point shot in fourth minutes of action didn’t drop. **The Keegan Ratings: Season Standings (based on average points)** **1.** Darnell Jackson **7.67** (69 points, 9 games) **2.** Mario Chalmers **6.44** (58 points, 9 games) **3.** Brandon Rush **6.29** (44 points, 7 games) **4.** Darrell Arthur **5.89** (53 point, 9 games) **5.** Sherron Collins **5.67** (17 points, 3 games) **6.** Rod Stewart **5.56** (50 points, 9 games) **7.** Russell Robinson **5.44** (49 points, 9 games) **8.** Sasha Kaun **4.78** (43 points, 9 games) **9.** Tyrel Reed **4.50** (27 points, 6 games) **10.** Cole Aldrich **4.22** (38 points, 9 games) **11.** Jeremy Case **2.25** (18 points, 8 games)
