The Keegan Ratings: Jackpot!

By Staff     Nov 26, 2006

_After each KU basketball game this season, this is where you can find out the basketball equivalent of The Nielsen Ratings from Journal-World sports editor Tom Keegan. He’ll rate the Jayhawks’ individual performances from top to bottom, telling you who was worth tuning in to watch and who has seen better days. If you agree or maybe even differ, make sure to comment and tell Tom how you really feel._**1. Julian Wright**: Was everywhere doing everything on the way to a 17-point first half. His aggressive play let Florida and the pro-Kansas crowd know from the start that KU would in this one until the end. Faked jumpers, drove hard and was too quick for the quick Florida big men to handle. His 21 points, 10 rebounds and three assists didn’t illustrate the influence he had on the game. **2. Darrell Arthur**: Limited to 16 minutes, Arthur totaled 19 points and nine rebounds and showed what a clutch performer he is by demanding the ball late in regulation and the overtime period. Made 6-of-7 field goal attempts and 7-of-9 free throws. Needs to figure out how to commit fewer fouls, but also has a good knack for drawing them. **3. Mario Chalmers**: Was in hard-driving mode all night and stung the Gators with passes to the post, drives to the left and to the right and with a pair of three-point shots. Ripped a defensive rebound, slapped it, immediately looked up court and fired a pass to Wright on the right wing. Wright took an angle that didn’t allow Al Horford to beat him to the spot and Horford could only watch Wright’s two-hand slam, courtesy of Chalmers. **4. Brandon Rush**: Blocked three shots, all of them huge ones. Didn’t have his shooting touch, misfiring on four of his five three-point attempts, but compensated with forceful drives, strong defense, seven rebounds and four assists. **5. Russell Robinson**: Had trouble staying with Taurean Green, who led Florida with 25 points, but penetrated and dished well and was tough underneath, totaling seven rebounds and two blocked shots. **6. Darnell Jackson**: Helped to contribute to Florida’s big men getting into foul trouble and made 4-of-6 free throws. **7. Sasha Kaun**: Played strong defense on Horford, but was whistled with two quick fouls on his way to a four-foul, 12-minute night. **8. Rodrick Stewart**: Played just four minutes, but did a nice job of keeping sharpshooter Lee Humphrey from getting up a shot and also came up with a big defensive rebound in traffic. **9. Sherron Collins**: Played just seven minutes, committed three fouls and didn’t contribute any points, rebounds or assists.
