**4:12 p.m.**: It was quite the scene outside of the KU locker room, with fans awaiting the team’s arrival at the bus and smiles on the faces of everyone who exited the locker room.KU can take solace in the fact that not only did it win on the road in a tough environment against a Top-25 team, but it did so without having to consider it an escape. KU legitimately won the game, as the playmakers stepped up late.A few postgame nuggets…**_-Being a Michigan fan, I had to make the comment_** late in the game – KU appears to be to Josh Freeman (6 INT in two career games against the Jayhawks and an 0-2 record) what Ohio State is to Chad Henne.**_-Aqib Talib fessed up that_** this is probably a game the 2006 Jayhawks don’t win. He talked all summer about this team’s new swagger. I think it truly showed for the first time today.**_-Dexton Fields brought to light that_** offensive coordinator Ed Warriner approached him after an interception was the result of a ball deflecting off of his facemask to tell him he’d get another shot when KU’s offense again took the field. In hindsight, it was a great coaching move by Warriner, as Fields returned instilled with confidence, catching two passes for 63 yards on KU’s game-winning drive, including the 30-yard score that ultimately decided the game.**_-No matter the result, Jordy Nelson is still_** an absolute beast. He finished with 137 yards on 10 catches and had to wow any NFL scout who was in the house.See you next Saturday once again for The Greene Room Live as KU takes on Baylor at 11:30 a.m. at Memorial Stadium.**2:30 p.m.**: Be back in a bit with some postgame interview nuggets.**2:17 p.m.**: What heart shown by the Jayhawks.Three HUGE blows going against KU in the second half, but Dexton Fields, James McClinton, Todd Reesing and co. have erased all memories of them. The feel-good story of the day has to be Kendrick Harper, who missed all of the non-conference season with a hand injury and picked off Josh Freeman at the K-State 26, setting KU up perfectly to grind this one to a close. The opportunity was missed on third down, as a pass to Derek Fine in the back of the end zone fell from his hands, leaving KU with a fourth down.Scott Webb’s 24-yard field goal has put KU up 30-24 with 2:21 to play.**_Worth mentioning_**: Todd Reesing’s numbers are simply incredible given his nightmare of a first quarter. To this point, he has completed 22 of his 35 pass attempts for 267 yards and three touchdowns.**1:59 p.m.**: KU is _still_ holding a lead despite three bad breaks going against the crimson and blue in the second half.Between the roughing the kicker call, a fourth-and-one gone wrong and now a ball flying off of Dexton Fields’ facemask into the awaiting arms of Chris Carney, K-State has to capitalize on _something_ at some point. This would be the Cats’ best shot inside the KU 10.Also, Dezmon Briscoe is now fielding punts for KU after an adventurous run for Raimond Pendleton.**1:25 p.m.**: The fact that KU was able to score while going against the wind – and through the air on top of that – is one heck of a sign. KU goes with the wind in the fourth quarter, but more importantly is the better team right now. Todd Reesing has shown more today than he has the rest of the season, overcoming his first real adversity of the year.**12:50 p.m.**: A few first half thoughts…**_-In my mind, and I’m no NFL scout_**, but Jordy Nelson has shown in one half that he has a professional future ahead of him.Whether it was his size, speed, ability to catch the ball on the sideline or whatever else, the dude’s a stud – flat out.**_-No matter what happens in the second half of this game_**, we know that this KU team is different than Jayhawk squads of the past. They could have thrown it in the tank when nothing went right in the first quarter, but led by a hard-nosed Todd Reesing, KU is still in position to win a game that, say, five years ago, there’s no way the Jayhawks would have.**_-The wind blowing from South to North_** has played a big role for whatever team is going towards the South end zone. Three of the game’s four touchdowns have been scored in the North end zone. It’s worth mentioning that KU will be going towards that North goal in the fourth quarter.**12:11 p.m.**: It’s amazing how the switch seemingly flipped for KU once the clock changed over into the second quarter. In an invigorating 86-yard drive, Todd Reesing threw bullets with the precision he’d shown regularly in the season’s first month. Jake Sharp ran effectively out of the spread once again, and his 20-yard run in which he amazingly kept his balance squirting through a pile capped a drive which again put KU on an even keel (Sharp now has 47 yards on six carries). It sounds cliche, but it is now definitely a new ball game.**11:58 a.m.**: Raimond Pendleton _did_ come out for the third time. This time he secured a fair catch safely.**11:52 a.m.**: Also worth mentioning right now…Josh Freeman’s first quarter line – 6-8, 108 yards, 1 TDTodd Reesing’s first quarter line – 3-9, 13 yards, 1 INT**11:49 a.m.**: While it hasn’t been easy with the wind, Kyle Tucker’s three punts so far have failed to impress, as K-State has been set up repeatedly with solid field position. Special teams have been tough as a whole for KU, as Raimond Pendleton has muffed a pair of fair catch attempts.Once can be considered a fluke. Two can mean it might be in Pendleton’s head now. It’ll be interesting to see if he’s trotted out there a third time.**11:31 a.m.**: Glancing at the message boards quickly, the world is already collapsing into oblivion. In some minds at least. While the requests for Mangino’s head and Talib’s jersey are far-fetched, it has not been a good early go for the Jayhawks. The play where Talib was burned by Jordy Nelson surprised many in the sense that not many knew Nelson was _that_ fast. That is the first time I can remember him being outrun that badly. It’s early, though, and Talib is far from a quitter. He won’t let that ruin his day just yet.Though one thing is for sure: The offense finding its footing will not be as easy today as it was in non-conference games where KU didn’t have to worry about a potent offense on the other sideline not getting started. The Jayhawks could be in trouble if the game’s first six minutes say anything.**11:06 a.m.**: For the first time since the opening night contest against Central Michigan, the Jayhawks won the coin toss and have elected to receive. If KU wants to make an early dent in a hostile environment, they’ve set themselves up with a prime opportunity.**10:29 a.m.**: Welcome to the first Greene Room live from the road this season. Let me recap the day’s goings-on at The Bill so far.-Crazy tailgating atmosphere. Though that also involved plenty of inebriated co-eds crossing the street right out of the stadium without caution. Luckily we were able to park without hitting anyone.**_-Here was a site_**: Just after pulling off of 177 into town, traffic was slowed to one lane for a bit due to a two-car crash. With the folks outside of the car conversing with the police, we noticed half were wearing blue, half were in purple. Would have loved to be a fly on the collar of the dude in the Jon Cornish jersey just to listen in.**_-Redshirt freshman tailback Angus Quigley_** is suited up for action today. It’s the first time in uniform this season for the Cleburne, Texas, native who missed all of last season due to injury.**_-It’s very bright_**. I’d give anything for an overcast day right about now.**_-Aqib Talib is already loving_** the atmosphere here. While catching balls in front of the KSU student section, while fans were hollering at him, he looked right at them and stared. Of course, being a few hundred yards away, we couldn’t tell for sure, but don’t be surprised if he was jawing back and forth with them.**_-My favorite name_** in college football – Gerard Spexarth, No. 73 in purple in your programs.**_-Boldest move of the day (so far)_** – Arist Wright, sophomore linebacker for KU, making sure to take a stomp on the Powercat at midfield as KU huddled to conclude warmups.Talk to you after kickoff.**_KUSports.com editor Ryan Greene can be reached at rgreene@ljworld.com, or by phone at (785) 832-6357._**
