Hey all. What’s going on? I guess first this week I should explain the new Greene Room logo a few inches above here on your screen.I’ve made no secret of the fact that I approve of my beloved Chicago Bulls [selecting Joakim Noah][1] ninth overall in last month’s NBA Draft. He’ll provide 10 points and 10 boards a game for the next several years, be a great energy source along the way and spew plenty of memorable sound clips I’m sure. Also, I was a big fan of his unique look on draft night, and will never be able to look at seersucker in the same light again…not that it was really in any light before to me…but he proved that he’s not scared to go out on a limb to something that he enjoys, no matter what anyone else said…much like yours truly. Finally, the term ‘Green Room’ is most commonly associated with the NBA/NFL Draft and late night talk shows. That said, combined with previous reasons, this photo fits this blog like a glove…and it gave me a reason to fuss around with Photoshop for an hour or so.Anyways, back to the show…**_-Jersey-gate is already getting out of hand in some folks’ minds._** At no other school in the nation are uniforms talked about as much as they are at Kansas. Then again, in the seven years since I first came to Lawrence, the KU men’s basketball team this year will sport the fourth different uniform in that time frame, going from [this][2], to [this][3], to [this][4] and now to probably something similar to the latest, just with a new font. The [Trajan][5] font.Do I like the Trajan font? Eh. I don’t hate it, but it certainly doesn’t get me excited. Then again, it’s just a uniform. That’s where some message board chatter is beginning to lose sight. Now I’ll agree that while the current font does have a more ‘traditional’ look, it’s hardly the only font KU has ever used. I’d rather see that font be used department-wide, but that’s just not going to happen. The Trajan font will, though. Having continuity throughout the athletic department as far as appearance goes I think is pretty underrated. The new font, in my mind, has a much more ‘corporate’ look, which might not be widely embraced, but guess what? That’s the name of the game in college athletics these days, as much as some ‘traditionalists’ might want to suppress it.Besides, there’s still going to be enough people who go buy replica unis at $50 a pop to make any complaints completely moot.Plus, last time I checked, players win games…not uniforms. So quit nit-picking.And that’s about as much Internet ink as the font topic deserves…**_-Though along with that, it’s worth mentioning that Adidas_** has now compiled itself a nice, tradition-rich lineup with the signing of two more schools this week – [Michigan][6] and [Texas A&M][7].That means their lineup, along with those two, now includes Notre Dame, Tennessee, Kansas, Indiana, Nebraska and UCLA as well. Looks like KU jumped on the right ship at the right time, huh?**_-Just like [a week ago with Darrell Arthur][8], two more KU hoopsters_** headed back to Lawrence and will miss out on international competition. This time, it’s [Mario Chalmers and Sherron Collins][9], who were cut from the Pan-Am games tryouts over the weekend. And just like last week, this is not a bad thing whatsoever. Both can spare themselves from the wear and tear physically, but especially Collins. Remember, this is the same guy who’s had to battle the bulge since arriving in Lawrence, and now that he seems to have finally leveled off right around 200 pounds and is healed from a knee issue late last season, why force anything like an international slate of games?Plus, as Bill Self was quoted by Gary Bedore as saying Sunday, neither Collins or Chalmers has ever been cut from a team. Never. It should be interesting to see if that plays into how both prepare for the season.**_-Oh, and [NCAA 08][10] was released today_**, which means thousands upon thousands of men ages 18-35 will be in hiding for about the next month…until [Madden 08][11] comes out four weeks from today. On this year’s game, 115 detailed stadiums are featured, compared to 40 in last year’s version (thanks, Wikipedia). I wonder if that means Memorial Stadium’s rendition will include a construction site in the background everytime Jake Sharp runs one into the south end zone.**_-And now for this week’s videos…_***I told you I’m not going to stop with [Scrubs][12] anytime soon, so here’s not [one][13], not [two][14], not [three][15], not [four][16], but [five][17] of ’em. Yippee!*Here’s Julian Wright [getting all set up][18] to be on NBA Live ’08. Whenever watching him at KU, I always thought it’d be fun to use him in a video game. So here’s a little preview, I guess.*Finally, here’s one of my favorite comedians of all-time, [Mitch Hedberg][19]. Can’t believe I haven’t incorporated his clips in here yet.See you again next week, when I’ll be blogging with you from Big XII Media Day in San Antonio, Texas, Monday through Wednesday.**_KUSports.com editor Ryan Greene can be reached at rgreene@ljworld.com, or by phone at (785) 832-6357._** [1]: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/448560,draft062807.article [2]: http://www.branchwest.com/images/players/echenowith.jpg [3]: http://etc.lawrence.com/galleries/images/KUvsVillanov/lores/LangfordRay.jpg [4]: http://delivery.viewimages.com/xv/57075733.jpg?v=1&c=ViewImages&k=2&d=17A4AD9FDB9CF19396908EAF14430D35D6BE57F6165110E0E7D1AEF52FC43D1C [5]: http://www.fonts.com/findfonts/detail.asp?pid=408361&gclid=CJW_7YmGr40CFQlQWAod2R6B1A [6]: http://mgoblue.com/document_display.cfm?document_id=25021 [7]: http://www.aggiesports.com/stories/071707/football_20070717002.php [8]: http://www2.kusports.com/news/2007/jul/07/stress_fracture_sidelines_kansas_arthur/?mens_basketball [9]: http://www2.kusports.com/news/2007/jul/16/collins_chalmers_wont_wear_red_white_and_blue/?mens_basketball [10]: http://www.easports.com/ncaa08/ [11]: http://www.easports.com/maddennfl/home.jsp [12]: http://imdb.com/title/tt0285403/ [13]: http://youtube.com/watch?v=FkMjqB0ways [14]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuwoJFVepGk&mode=related&search= [15]: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HTGv8xTByio [16]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ3MSCLBpaM [17]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAlN8cI-W98&NR=1 [18]: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKdrtEY7GfM [19]: http://youtube.com/watch?v=2491LucLa1g&mode=related&search=
