Former Jayhawk qualifies in discus at Olympics

Alexandra Emilianov of Moldova came in fourth in her qualifying group for discus Friday at the 2024 Olympics in Paris with a distance of 64.33 meters and will advance to the final round on Monday.

In Paris, Croatia’s Sandra Elkasevic led Emilianov’s group with a throw of 65.63 meters. In Group A for the event, Valarie Allman of the United States took first with a distance of 69.59 meters. The Netherlands’ Jorinde van Klinken was second with a throw of 64.81 meters.

Emilianov will throw first in the final at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Allman is scheduled to throw seventh.
