Kansas has earned the transfer commitment of former Baylor and Louisville safety Corey Gordon, according to multiple reports on Sunday night.
ESPN was first to report the addition, which gives KU yet another power-conference veteran to deploy one of its most thoroughly overhauled position groups. Gordon’s commitment at safety follows those of Jaden Harris (Georgia), Christian Pritchett (Georgia Tech) and Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman (Iowa State).
Gordon is coming off the most productive season of his career, one in which he started 12 of 13 games for Louisville while recording 53 tackles, three for loss, and two pass breakups. He previously played at Baylor for three seasons, and the 2026 campaign at KU will be the last of his collegiate career.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety is originally from Oklahoma City and attended Putnam City West High School, from which the Bears recruited him as a three-star prospect.
After sitting for most of his freshman year in 2022, Gordon assumed extensive rotational responsibilities with 336 defensive snaps, per Pro Football Focus, and plenty more on special teams in 2023. He worked most of the time as a slot corner. Much of his action occurred early in the year, when he started Baylor’s second through fifth games.
Gordon started three more as a redshirt sophomore in 2024 while playing in all 12 during the regular season. His defensive workload remained similar overall and his PFF grade on defense improved from 54.0 to 61.5. He recorded 34 tackles that year and intercepted three passes.
Gordon went into the portal prior to Baylor’s bowl game and chose Louisville for his fourth collegiate season, leading to a productive campaign during his one year in the ACC, this time with a grade of 68.5. Now he’ll return to the Big 12 and — like KU’s fellow Sunday night pledge, Middle Tennessee wideout Nahzae Cox — have the chance to take on his former team in 2026.
