Former Boston College linebacker Daveon Crouch has committed to Kansas, his agent Kyle Logan confirmed to the Journal-World on Thursday afternoon.

Crouch fills a significant need for the Jayhawks at middle linebacker, where their top two players acquired during last year’s offseason are expected to depart once again via the transfer portal. Crouch brings significant veteran experience at the power-conference level from his four-year tenure with the Eagles, one at the conclusion of which he was able to redshirt after missing much of the 2025 season due to injury.

Originally from Wharton High School in Tampa, Florida, where he was a three-star prospect, the 6-foot-1, 227-pound Crouch initially joined Boston College as a member of the class of 2022. He saw significant time on special teams that year, with 132 snaps on the kick-coverage, kick-return and punt-return units, according to Pro Football Focus.

His role grew in 2023, when he served as a rotational inside linebacker throughout the season and recorded 17 tackles and a pass breakup. His most productive campaign, however, was 2024, the first year under head coach Bill O’Brien. Crouch started all 13 games and was third on the team with 77 tackles, including 6.5 for loss, with two forced fumbles and four pass breakups.

Crouch was named a team captain in 2025, but the year didn’t go according to plan. He suffered a leg injury in the Eagles’ third game against Stanford, and O’Brien told reporters in late October that he believed Crouch would not be back that season, but he played less than two weeks later against Notre Dame, which turned out to be his fourth and final appearance of the season (resulting in the redshirt).

Crouch got the nickname “Bam” from his mother, who said he “Bam’d his way into the world” a day before his cousin to avoid having the same birthday.

He should be in line to contribute quite a bit right away from KU, along with fellow incoming transfer linebackers Quincy Davis, Landyn Watson and Jaron Willis.
