Offensive lineman Anderson Kopp announced Tuesday morning that he will play college football at Kansas, giving the Jayhawks their third player in the recruiting class of 2025.
Kopp is from Phoenix and plays for Brophy Prep, so KU is continuing to bring in prospects from Arizona, but he has a deep connection to the Jayhawks as his father Kevin played for KU under Glen Mason in the 1990s.
Kopp told Jon Kirby of JayhawkSlant.com that he called offensive line coach Daryl Agpalsa and the KU staff and said he wanted to “come back home. Back to Lawrence.”
“Coach Agpalsa was super hyped,” Kopp told Kirby. “He was like, let’s lock in some other boys now. So, I’m trying to help recruit some other little O-linemen. I talked to (2025 quarterback) David McComb today. He’s all pumped up. Coach Leipold was showing love, and he was calling me today. There was a lot of love from the coaches.”
Kopp is a three-star recruit and is listed as 6-foot-3, 275 pounds. He told JayhawkSlant that the KU staff views him primarily as a center.
“They like me at center because like my height and weight, it translates the most to center,” he told Kirby. “But that being said, I can play all five positions. I’m good to play whatever position. But I think the main position is center.”
Kopp had also received offers from schools such as Iowa State, Memphis, Navy and San Diego State.
He joins McComb, of Edmond, Oklahoma, and athlete Malachi Curvey (a probable linebacker), from Waukee, Iowa, in KU’s 2025 class.
