The Kansas women’s basketball team earned its third commitment of the 2027 cycle on Tuesday afternoon when Santana Sabus announced on Instagram that she will join the Jayhawks.
Sabus is a 5-foot-9 guard from Arvada, Colorado, who attends Ralston Valley High School. According to MaxPreps, as a junior she averaged 23.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game along with 3.8 assists and 3.9 steals. She also plays soccer as a midfielder and scored 15 goals in 16 games last season.
Sabus had reported offers from schools such as Colorado, Iowa, San Diego State and Washington State, according to posts by her club team Hardwood Elite. She received her offer from KU back in July.
She has represented the nation of Luxembourg at the youth level. Last year, in FIBA U16 Women’s EuroBasket Division B action, she tallied 18.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in seven contests.
Jonathan Hemingway of On the Radar Hoops wrote the following of Sabus in April after seeing her on the Adidas 3SSB circuit: “We noted her energy and constant willingness to be around the ball during a matchup versus Texas Lonestar, where she scored 20 points, including 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range. She is also a solid passer who keeps her head up in traffic. She projects as a two-guard at the collegiate level who has the size and athleticism to defend either backcourt spot. However, her ball skills and instincts will allow her to spotlight at the point guard position as well.”
Sabus joins fellow guards Kawehi Borden (Sumner, Washington) and Amillia Prochnow (Overland Park) in KU’s class of 2027, so the Jayhawks are now up to three incoming freshmen, even though under new eligibility rules they are only guaranteed to lose one fifth-year player, Brittany Harshaw, after the 2026-27 campaign.
