The Kansas men’s and women’s basketball teams each had one signee named to the rosters for the McDonald’s All-American Game on Monday afternoon.
The event, which features the best high school basketball players in the nation, will take place on March 31 at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Future KU guard Taylen Kinney, of Newport, Kentucky, was named to the East team for the men’s game, becoming the Jayhawks’ 53rd signee to earn the honor. He follows current Jayhawks Darryn Peterson (2025), Flory Bidunga (2024) and Elmarko Jackson (2023) as McDonald’s All-Americans.
Kinney plays in the Overtime Elite league, a fruitful source of KU recruits in recent years, for a team called RWE. He is averaging 18.8 points and 6.1 assists per game during the 2025-26 regular season.
Kinney, a five-star prospect who ranks as the No. 18 player and No. 2 point guard nationally in the 247Sports composite, is signed to play for the Jayhawks during the 2026-27 campaign. KU coach Bill Self has called him “prepared to run a college basketball team” and equipped with the ability to score while also creating for others.
He visited KU for the Jayhawks’ game against BYU on Saturday, along with 2027 KU commitment Javon Bardwell and 2026 target Tyran Stokes. Stokes, the No. 1 player in the nation, a forward from Louisville, Kentucky, who is currently playing for Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, was also named a McDonald’s All-American for the West team. He is picking between Kansas, Kentucky and Oregon for his college destination, and recruiting experts from both 247Sports and On3 have long characterized KU as the leader in his recruitment.
On the women’s side, KU has a signee in the McDonald’s All-American Game for the second straight year — Jaliya Davis took part in 2025 — after the Jayhawks had previously only recruited one such player out of high school in program history (Lauren Ervin in 2003).
This year’s honoree is Cydnee Bryant, a two-sport prospect who intends to play both basketball and volleyball for the Jayhawks. The 6-foot-4 Bryant, who is from Corona, California, and attends Centennial High School, is a 247Sports Composite five-star who ranks No. 33 overall and No. 6 among centers. She will play for the West team in the McDonald’s game.
KU coach Brandon Schneider has called her a “critical addition” with the ability to contribute in the paint at both ends of the court while also stepping out to shoot.
On the volleyball side, Bryant plays as a middle blocker, and according to a KU press release announcing her signing was labeled a three-star by VB Recruiter.
Cydnee Bryant will play both basketball and volleyball at Kansas.
