The Kansas soccer team dropped a 2-1 match to Florida Atlantic in the final minutes on Thursday night at FAU Soccer Stadium in Boca Raton.
Florida Atlantic’s Bri Austin scored the game-winning goal at the 89:50 mark of the match.
Kansas (6-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half behind the third goal of the season from super-senior midfielder Rylan Childers. Her sister, sophomore Raena Childers, assisted on the goal. FAU (4-3-2) tied the game in the 30th minute, when Gi Krstec beat KU goalkeeper Melania Pasar for the Owls’ first goal of the game.
The Jayhawks finished the match with a 14-7 edge in shots and controlled the tempo for much of the game, but could not produce more than one goal.
Next up, Kansas will head north to Tampa to play South Florida on Sunday at Corbett Stadium. The match will kickoff at noon and be broadcast on ESPN+.
