Kansas head coach Lance Leipold takes the field with his team before facing TCU on Nov. 20, 2021, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Jarra “Bear” Anderson, a defensive tackle from Katy, Texas, became the latest player to commit to play football at Kansas when he did so on XXXX.

Anderson, who is 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, chose the Jayhawks over Colorado and Washington State. His decision seemed evident after he returned from his official visit to Kansas, which began on June 10, and canceled the visits he had scheduled for the other two schools.

Kansas State, Utah and Duke are among the other Power 5 programs that have offered Anderson a scholarship.

He is the seventh player in Kansas’ class of 2023, the fourth who plays defense and the fourth from Texas. Wide receivers Surahz Buncom, Jarred Sample and Keaton Kubecka, safety Taylor Davis, defensive end Tony Terry Jr. and linebacker Logan Brantley have also committed to the Jayhawks.

Anderson was one of seven high school players who visited Kansas officially on June 17 and only decided to do so in the days leading up to his departure. He received his scholarship following a conversation with defensive backs coach Jordan Peterson on Feb. 15 and has also been recruited by defensive tackles coach Jim Panagos.

He finished last season with 36 tackles, including 10 for loss, and five sacks in eight games.
