The Kansas City Chiefs held off a comeback from the Miami Dolphins to emerge victorious in Frankfurt, collecting a 21-14 win that puts them at 7-2 for the season. It was the first-ever regular season game to take place in Frankfurt, and the watching public was very much entertained by a high-quality NFL clash.
Kansas went into the half-time interval 21-0 up but watched on as touchdowns from Cedrick Wilson and Raheem Mostert brought the Dolphins back into the game. Much of the media attention continued to be on Travis Kelce, due to his burgeoning relationship with arguably the biggest pop star on the planet, Taylor Swift, but he managed just three catches for 14 yards in a game that was not so reliant on offense for its thrills and spills.
Interestingly, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid even found time to discuss Kelce’s romantic life after the game, stating,
“I’m just glad he’s found somebody he likes and she’s found somebody she likes. That’s a good thing,” and has previously discussed her father;
“I knew her from Philadelphia. Her dad was a big NFL fan,”
“So I had met her when she was real young, and her dad.”
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes found time to discuss matters concerning the team’s form on the pitch, explaining;
“The fact that they’re so good at all three levels, they’re deep,”
“Guys rotate in. They can play. It’s hard to get everybody snaps; that’s how good they are. It’s got to be the top defense in the NFL.”
“That’s a great offense. To hold them to 14 points where I fumbled in our own area for seven of those points that’s a tremendous job. I think they’re going to continue to get better because they’re young, and they love it.”
Mahomes also applauded the more youthful members of his Chiefs side;
“I knew they were going to be good. You look at the end of last year, they played great football and no one really noticed. I knew they were going to be good,”
“They brought back so many people, so many young guys, they were going to develop. I mean, the fact they’re all developing this fast, I don’t know if anyone could have guessed it. I knew they were going to be great as their careers went on. Good to have a lot of young guys that can play like that.” Mahomes added.
The win saw the Chiefs bounce back from their loss to the Denver Broncos, which came after a run of six straight wins. Kansas is well placed as they go into a bye week and will return to host the Philadelphia Eagles on November 20th in what promises to be one hell of a titanic clash given the Lincoln Financial Field side is 8-1 and no doubt Nick Sirianni’s side will be looking for revenge following their narrow Super Bowl loss to Kansas City in February.
