Kansas volleyball falls to Baylor in 4 sets for second straight day

By J-W Staff Report     Oct 15, 2021

Behind a strong defensive effort that held No. 11 Baylor to .185 hitting in the first set, the Kansas volleyball team won the opener, 26-24, and then dropped three in a row — 25-17, 25-22 and 25-19 — to fall to the Bears for the second consecutive day.

Baylor responded to a sluggish first set by hitting .351 or better in the next three sets, maintaining control throughout and keeping KU’s thoughts of an upset at bay.

The Jayhawks, meanwhile, followed up their first-set victory by hitting .071 in the second set, with just nine kills and seven errors.

That allowed Baylor (11-4 overall, 5-1 Big 12) to grab the momentum and the Bears never looked back. BU out-hit Kansas (11-8, 3-5) .321 to .185 for the match.

KU freshman Caroline Bien led the Jayhawks with 12 kills and super-senior Jenny Mosser added 10.

KU now has lost five consecutive matches.

After a bye week next week, the Jayhawks will look to get back on track with home matches versus Oklahoma on Oct. 29 and 30.
